We currently have reservations at both places. We are trying to decide which one to keep. We are not going until May 3 so we have some time. The "we" is myself and my DH. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary. The things we like about each hotel is:

Candy Cane Inn
smaller hotel
quaint looking
same side of the road as Disneyland
no highway noise
free breakfast (we are not "big" breakfast people, so coffee and
muffins work)

HOJO
balcony room in building #1 (requested top floor)
Disney view
cheaper

Need help.

Thanks.

I was at the HOJO a month ago, it was the best experience! If you ask for Building two (or ask for a room to see the fireworks) you won't even hear the highway noise! Plus! It's MUCH closer than CCI, something that I know I appreciated!

We have stayed at both.

I would say stay at the HOJO. I hate saying that because the more people I tell about the HOJO the harder it is for us to get rooms. ;)

We like both places -- since you are not big breakfast eaters then that is somewhat mute because you could go over to MiMi's and get their HUGE and delicious muffins and coffee for breakfast and save some $.

At the HOJO you will have a view of the fireworks which you will not have at the CCI. The CCI can be a further walk especially if you are located at the back of the property. The CCI rooms are WAY smaller than HOJO.

hi there, we have stayed at both and loved both...:)

CCI was just so cute...the grounds were beautiful, rooms were very clean, small but nice pool area, the breakfast was quite nice...it was great...
HOJO was amazing...grounds again are very nice, rooms are very clean, bigger pool areas, no breakfast BUT closer to the restaurants....also, the staff at the HOJO are beyond amazing and very helpful

Sorry i am no help, are you getting a better deal at either???..we are going back to the Hojo in may and got it for 59 dollars a night for 9 out of our 10, so for me, it was an easy decision...but as for which one is better, they are each better in their own unique way...

We got a AAA rate at both places. The Candy Cane Inn is $123.00 per night for a deluxe room. The HOJO is $88.40 per night for Disney view room, building #1. (plus tax for both)

Jakoky-----How did you get $59.00 rate?

I was in the same situation...but decided on the HOJO simply because it was closer to the main entrance. With two small children it will be easier for us.

My question is, can the fireworks be seen from anywhere in the HOJO or only from Building 2? Can they be seen from, perhaps the pool area
?

if you buy the orange county entertainment book, you can get that rate at times. I know a friend of mine does all the time :)

You can actually use any entertainment book, even your local one. You just need the card out of the book. I believe the code is SD50 to check for the rates on your date.

As far as CCI vs. Hojo, we have only stayed at CCI. But we LOVE it. The staff is so nice and helpful. I don't think the walk is that long; plus, if we are really tired, we just take the free shuttle back at night. The breakfast is good (my fave is the pineapple coconut muffins), and they have a nice hot tub.

That being said, everyone on here loves Hojo, so they are both good options.

Fireworks are actually best seen from Building one, the higher up the better. A Disney-facing room can be had at the Ent rate of $79 a night, when it's available.

There are trees that can block the view, so book early and request a non-blocked view. They will try to accomodate you, the earlier requests are honored before the later ones, which is why it's good to book early.

We had room 1713, top floor, and LOVED it. Yes, the freeway is loud when you're out on the balcony, but inside the room it's very quiet. For a video of the view from our room, check my trip report, page 5, linked in my siggy below. We had a great view of the Matterhorn and Space mountain. On the top floor, you get a beautiful skylight, and no little pitter-pattering feet in the hotel room above you!

Love HoJo! Beds were SOOOO comfy and the staff service couldn't be beat!:thumbsup2

Hey Everybody! :goodvibes

I just wanted to note that with regard to the Entertainment Rate, you can actually see all current dates that we have a full ET Discount available here.

Choosing where to stay is always the hardest part- once you do that, then you can get down to the fun of the COUNTDOWN! Good luck!

I've stayed at both and liked them both. We do prefer the HoJo over the CCI for the rates, rooms and the staff. We prefer the CCI for the shuttle. In our experience walking time was the same give or take a minute or two. If the HoJo is cheaper that's ALWAYS our first choice. We love HOJO!!!!! :)

Thanks for all the advice. After going over all the comments with my DH, we deciding to stay at the HOJO. I did call and request a room without trees in the way as avalon451 suggested. I even mentioned room 1713. (thanks avalon451 for the advice)

Now if I could only figure out a way to make my countdown calendar move abit faster.

If it's a special get away for You and Your Husband I would go with Candy Cane Inn.

They also have their own private shuttle to and from the park which makes it so nice.

Their beds are super comfy and it's a nice boutiquey hotel, great for a couples trip.:thumbsup2

I just saw on another thread where someone posted how wonderfully warm the pool was at the CCI. We stayed at the HoJo last May and although the pool was supposed to be heated, it was not warm to us at all. Although the temps were normal for that time of year, there were not very many guests swimming because the water in the pool was so cool. I don't know if the situation has changed at the HoJo garden pool, but we love to swim and so for our family that is a big consideration.

Whatever your choice, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip!!

Stumped again. We were all set to stay at the HOJO but the rates came down at the Candy Cane Inn. Now there is not a big difference. Since the calendar for May is coming out slowly, the only night we could see the fireworks from our balcony at HOJO is Sunday. A balcony room is not a major perk anymore to us. We were planning to go to DL on Sunday anyway. Luckily I still have both reservations. Back to the thinking board.
