After much searching considering either HoJo's or Candy Cane Inn. I think CCI is at the top right now. Any recent reviews of either place? Any rooms to avoid at CCI- do NOT like connecting rooms or elevators nearby. Are the deluxe worth the extra money?

THANKS

I've stayed in the regular room and the deluxe room at CCI and the deluxe really felt bigger. Both were very clean and we loved every second of staying there! If you have kids, then stay in the deluxe room. A couple can easily be comfy in the regular room.

We preferred staying on the 2nd floor as cars pull in and face the ground floor rooms. Staying downstairs meant getting headlights shining at the window, but that would only happen 1x at night, if at all.

The shuttle was always on time for us. It's actually very nice to not have to walk any farther than the shuttle pick up area! The hotel is also easily walkable and DH and I did this half the time anyhow.

Does the CCI even have elevators? I can't recall where they would be, we always lugged our suitcases up the stairs...

We love the Candy Cane. Free breakfast is a nice perk, and the shuttle can't be beat...esp. during the rainy season. The rooms are small, but nice, and the pool is heated all year. Oh and the hot tub is quite hot. We stayed at Hojo last summer because of the bigger pool and the water play area, and enjoyed that as well, but still like CCI the best.

Stayed at CCI in July. Just got back from our first time at HOJO's this past weekend.

We'll be going back to the CCI for sure. Service is MUCH better, rooms are nicer, and the CCI is just more mom and pop style where you get the tangible sense that they are trying hard to please.

HOJO rooms are old and while not dirty, feel very...worn/lived in. The front desk doesn't seem to care about your stay one way or another (no late checkouts, you have to pay for the shuttle which is free and always on time from CCI, the staff at CCI was just more real/caring and went above and beyond when assisting us ((i.e. they gave us a free ride from CCI to Disneyland Hotel so we could make our Goofy's Reservation on time; there was a very nice basket in our room upon check in, etc)) ). At HOJO I got the sense that we were just one of many and they seemed to really take guests for granted. Not that it was a bad experience at all (it was not). But just compared to CCI, the service was non-existent at HOJO.

All that said, the HOJO pool and gift shop can't be beat and if you have kids, those are perks that are hard to come by at CCI. The CCI pool is fine/nice enough, but it's nothing close to how cool the pirate themed pool area is at HOJO. But heck, we went for the parks and didn't spend much time in HOJOS anyway.

Room service sucks at both. At HOJOS you gotta go next door to Mimi's Cafe to get food which kind of sucks. My kids dig the idea of people bringing food to the room. And on top of that, Mimi's can get crowded often with 30+ min waits. CCI room service exists but it's bare bones. They try to dress it up and present it all nice (and they do) but the choices are still pretty limited.

So there's my ramble :) All said: CCI all the way :)

Either way, enjoy your trip!

We stayed at CCI last summer and we loved it. It felt clean and safe with the air conditioning running we never heard a peep from anyone outside or next to us. The shuttle is great, though we tended to walk to the park in the mornings. We had a second floor room towards the front of the property. I don't think there were any elevators. We liked it so much we'll be staying there for a trip next summer!

You may want to try Faifield Inn if you want a room that has room service. They get their room service from Milie's and it's not outrageously priced. We had a very clean room while there and highly recommend it. You can read about it and look at room photos here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1745747&highlight=hojos+room+pic&page=20

DisneySuiteFreak- thanks for that review. I just checked out your thread and that hotel looks great! Love the Disney art on the walls. We'll stay there next time. I figure by the time the kids are off to college we'll have stayed at all the Harbor hotels :)

...heck, who am I kidding. At our rate, we'll hit that milestone in a few years! :)

We just got back from staying three nights at the CCI and loved this motel. The standard rooms are not large, but were ample for me, DH, and DD(15). The rooms were very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The pool is not large, but it is in an attractively landscaped area and offers a nice mid-day break. No slide -just a pool. There is a separate kiddie pool. Hot tub was hot. Towels provided poolside. Free breakfast included choices of: toast (bread), muffins, croissants, donuts, danish, cereal, instant oatmeal, bagels with peanut butter, jam, or cream cheese (plain and two flavors), bananas, apples, apple juice, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Free shuttle was great. It goes to the park on the hour and half past. It comes from the park at a quarter to and a quarter past the hour. Five minute ride to the park, less coming back. Last run is 45 minutes after park closing. It is a 5-10 minute walk (depending on your pace and energy level) on a mostly shaded walkway with no major streets to cross (just one exit from Disney property). Our room (210) was very quiet. The Tower of Terror in DCA looked like it was next door. No elevators that I saw. My only complaint - and it is a small one- was that I was not a big fan of the pillows. They were fine if you were sitting up reading, but a little firm and high for sleeping. We will definitely be back

We stayed at the CCI for the first time back in May and loved it! You just can't beat the free parking, free internet, free shuttle, free breakfast. The grounds are beautiful with all of the flowers. The rooms are very clean and the beds so comfortable. I never noticed any noise. I will stay there again without a doubt! Enjoy your stay!
