Candy Buffet 4 graduation Questions about price, etc

it doesn't have to be all candy. You can try fish crackers, or pretzel nuggets, peanuts etc. Most kids i know love love love gummy candy and fruit snacks. The candy i did for my DD's sweet 16 last year should be included in the link another poster posted up a few posts. ( say that ten times fast lol). It was a really good hit with the kids. I got the best compliment... a couple of the kids said it was the best party they ever went to. lol Anyway..... i shopped around for my candy because of budgetting. Used coupons and bought when the name brands were on sale. ( hershey pieces etc) i had tons left over. I guess we had about 20 ppl. I wanted to do color, but figured they kids cared more about the candy then what color it was. One more word.... SMARTIES!!!! went like hotcakes!

No. We had a ton of food too. This was for their "goodie bags" to take home.

I am so glad!!! All I could picture was a bunch of old, generic candy and a bunch of sugared out, gagged out people!!!

Thank you for the information.

Since it was June, we had a big cookout. We had burgers, hot dogs and kabobs. Plus all the fixins like potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans, etc. I didn't put out the candy until near the end of the party after everyone ate.

That makes so much sense, now! I was just missing a piece or two of the puzzle, lol!

We are having a candy buffet at DD7's birthday party next week. So far I have hershey kisses (costco), swedish fish (supermarket), individual bags of cotton candy (local party store), haribo gummy hearts (bulk bag ordered from amazon), gummy bears (amazon), charleston chews (supermarket), ring pops (christmas tree shops). Whenever I am in a store and see something interesting and inexpensive I try and get some.

I bought some chinese food takeout containers to put the candy in. Since not everything is individually wrapped I am having DD9 and her friend serve everyone (with rubber gloves).

I bought all the glass jars at homegoods. All different shapes and sizes.:)

We had a candy buffet table at our wedding dinner last month ~ we used a variety of apothacary jars and did not have a color theme, the table cloth was black *I'll post a picture later.

Our candy came mostly from Sam's Club.

We had ~
Swedish Fish
Tootsie Rolls
M & Ms
Good 'n' Plenty
Individually wrapped mint Life Savers *from Walmart
Hershey Kisses
Pixie Stix

*I'm sure there's more ~ I'll add them as they come to me.

We had an outdoor party for DD's graduation party a few years ago. Since it was July, I stayed away from anything chocolate.

It was a surprise for DD so I tried to pick out some of her childhood favorites. We also had "regular" food as well as cake. We left bags out for everyone to take home as a goody bag. The adults seemed to enjoy it as much as the kids did. One of the favorites were the "make your own Pixie Stix". I found the powdered candy at Target after Halloween. Other favorites included the sweet tart pacifier candies, rock candy on a string, nerds, swedish fish, the wax bottles filled with juice and jelly bellies. I planned this months ahead of time so I was able to get most of it after a holiday. I was careful to check expiration dates and kept it all in sealed containers until the party.

I also bought a lot of the candy at CVS and used ECB to pay for most of it.

My older DD used her Cricut to make labels for all of the jars.

Here are some pictures.

Check out Amy Atlas...I like how she uses: Cupcakes, sealed baggies of small candy, candy bars in designer wraps, and even some fruit. Lots of great ideas!

I found for our purple/white/gold scheme:

Hershey's DARK chocolate kisses
Bulk Jelly Belly's (although I can't decide which purple flavor to get) and white Jelly Belly's (coconut and vanilla)
Some really yummy chocolate covered blueberries
Lollipops
Grape vines
Big gumdrops

I think I'll stop with that, and add: Trader Joe's Meringue cookies, some chocolate (probably See's), cupcakes, and sugar cookies.

I am doing this for my DD's 6 bday in May. I have been buying candy the past few weeks as I see some on sale. She is having a princess party, and I ordered some princess candy bracelets and necklaces, princess lollipops, star lollipops, smarties, tootsie rolls, tootsie pops, hershey candy bars that I am giong to make wrappers for, m&m's, some other princess candy, some rubber bracelets that say 'princess', small bottles of bubbles, and 1 or 2 other things.... I can't wait! I have been running in and checking a local thrift store to look for different size/shape glass jars!

If I do this for my dd graduation party should I just use candy that is the school colors? (red and yellow...might be kinda hard)

Where is everyone getting the GREAT containers. I'm thinking ahead to graduation 2012.

I was on the lookout for containers everywhere:

Michael's with their 40% off coupon
- they have giant martini, wine, and brandy snifter glasses
- lots of cylinders

Ikea- great if there's one nearby!
- Rectangular containers are great b/c they're narrow and show off the candy well
- Inexpensive serving utensils too

Bed, Bath, and Beyond with their 20% off coupon

Marshall's/TJ Maxx

Just keep your eyes peeled and you'll find some great deals on glass containers in the most unexpected places.

Red: twizzlers, red hots, cherry jolly ranchers, red lollipops
yellow: butterscotch, lemon drops, hershey's with almond chocolates (in gold wrapper)

That's what I can think of off the top of my head. Check out my pictures from above, my DDs school colors had yellow too. So you can see what I found for that.
