Who is having a candy bar/buffet or has had one and what type of candy did you use? Did you bring your own or let Disney provide it? What are the rules if you bring your own candy? How much is it to rent the class jars from them? Is the bar set up when you get to the reception or did they put the table out when cake was being served?

For our vow renewal(Nov. 9th) I am thinking I want to do this and have all the candies fall themed. For example candy corn, reese's pieces, hershey kisses, mini hershey chocolate bars, candy apples, caramel apples, butterscotch candies. Any other ideas would be appreciated!!

I believe all candy must be wrapped per health code regulations but someone correct me if I am wrong:confused3

I am sad to say but I think Sam is right. I really really wanted to do a candy bar - but the idea of having everything packaged I think sort of ruins the look. I would double check with your planner just to make sure.

I thought the candies would have to be packaged, but most of what I want to have is. Like Hershey kisses, mini Reese's peanut butter cups. Wait you don't mean left in the big plastic package they come in do you? I thought that if Disney provided the candy it didn't have to be packaged. :confused3

Hopefully someone will post & help clear this up.

My understanding is that if you want to have something like M&Ms they have to be in a package and not loose in a punch bowl with a scoop.

I would think hersheys kisses and reeses would be fine - I just wanted to do something like this -

The lollipops would be easy to package but everything else would be more difficult.

I think the rule is just so that someone doesn't sneeze and stick their dirty hand in all of the candy and get everyone else sick.

I know several people have had candy bars with unwrapped candy - it just has to be provided by Disney. Here's one at a reception in Italy from last year.

oOo so it CAN be done :cool1:

whats the reasoning behind it? Why would it make a difference if disney provides it or not?

I think that is absolutely beautiful and the look I would want also only with fall colors.

Thank you for the info!!!

I wonder if I can bring the wrapped candy to save on costs and then let them provide the loose candy? I will ask my planner and post what she says.

Got an email back from my planner and I can bring packaged candy like Hershey kisses and they will provide all the unpackaged candy and glass containers for them. I am so happy!! At least it will help me save a couple of bucks!;)

Do you mind if I ask how much she quoted you?

She didn't quote me anything.:rotfl: I guess that's not a good sign!;) I guess we will talk about it all during my planning session. I actually don't think I asked for a price. Sorry. My planning session is June 26th and I'll post a full report. I plan on bringing the candy and bags to put it in and renting the glass jars from them. I will probably bring the scoopers too cause I just saw them at the craft store for a good price. DH says he's scared to hear what they will charge us. He says if they charge $200 or more forget it.(for the jars and set up)
