Candy Art Vent...

That is ludicrous!

There is no sign indicating that everyone will be picked, and I can't imagine a parent telling a kid if they go enough times they'd be picked.

This is what happens when everyone gets a trophy... no winners, no losers. Kids aren't taught that we can't all be winners all the time - then they have trouble adjusting later when they don't get into their first choice college or get the job they wanted.

It's so sad. :sad2:

:thumbsup2 I couldn't agree more!

:lmao: LMAO, take a look at this photo:

I posted this a few years back after older DD waited patiently and was rewarded by Myuki. What you don't see is the mutinous look on younger DDs face in the previous picture because she chose not to go to EPCOT and instead went to MK with Dad that day!

wow. . . .
I guess I should consider ourselves lucky that we got to get one of the candy lady's creations one time. Living locally we go to the parks all the time and watching the candy lady has been one of the things we like to do in EPCOT, it's been awhile though so I had no idea she stopped giving them out! Shame on those people for complaining!

It's just simply been really fun for us to watch. My son would occassionally get a little whiny about not getting one some of the time, but after being reminded that that wasn't what was important, and you can buy candy anywhere, but you can't see someone making sculptures out of it just any old place and honestly we did use "maybe next time" a few times. It's amusing because when he finally got picked all he wanted to do was eat it right away. . . and then didn't like it! lol.

Oh I rememberwhen the girls finally broke that one and ate it, the look on their faces was priceless!

Only once was either of my children picked to participate in a Disney activity and that was my son when he was 6 - he was chosen to be Temporary Ruler of the Realm at the Sword in the Stone show. He was priceless!! Other than that, if a CM looks like he or she is about to choose either of them they back off and point to a smaller child so that child can have some fun. As far as Myuki goes I believe both versions of the story. We get a huge kick out of watching her make her creations and hearing her stories, but we too have seen some reality show-worthy hissy fits when someone's kid didn't get picked. I'm in total agreement with a PP who said "you're a guest, so act like one". I believe those pearls of wisdom rolled off Robo's keypad...

I don't know why people don't start complaining that THEY could not get the sword out of the stone at MK?:rotfl: (I didn't even know anyone could until I read it here.)

I think the people who just want free stuff lose in the end, because they don't believe in Magic, and Treats, and Happy Surprises!...

If you demand and expect, then you are doomed to be disappointed!

Miyuki is an artist and a character, and it is great to witness the magic of a lump becomming a unicorn or a dragon, much as watching the egg hatch into a chick, or the seed into a plant!

I feel sorry for children who are not given the example of awe!

so, although we like watching, we know we aren't getting any candy. But I was just amazed (don't know why, nothing should surprise me these days) at the parents here. One woman strategically placed her kids at intervals around the candy stand and told them not to talk to each other. Sure enough, all three kids scored a candy animal. I'm sure they were all very happy with their little "greedy" lesson from Mom! Personally I'm glad she doesn't hand it out anymore. I bet its less crowded since you don't "get" anything anymore. At least you won't have the parents trying to shove their kids to the front in hopes of being picked.

I think that it being due to Guest Complaints is very logical. Earlier this year the Harmony Barber Shop started charging $3.00 extra for a "Child's First Haircut" as opposed to a regular child haircut price.

I asked Michael about it; his response was there were people complaining they paid the same price for "Precious" to get a haircut as the infant and they thought they were also entitled to a free set of Ears.

I'm sorry, but I have seen too often where people with a "me first" attitude have ruined the experience for other Guests.

That is just so sad. Those people drive me nuts!

What a shame. I'm sure they just got sick of the complaints.

I think too many people don't have the brains or the balls to tell their own kids, "Sure, it would have been fun for you to be picked. But you were not, so let's be happy for the child who was."

:woohoo: Exactly. You can't always get what you want in life!

I remember one family distinctly, I call them McPushy. THey refused to speak English, pushed their children in front of the others waiting patiently and demanded that each of their "darlings" receive a figure. Funny how they could say pick my child clearly!
