Ok our family is just back from a quick Memorial Weekend trip and I am going to vent. We went to EPCOT and watched the candy art in Japan. We already knew that Miyuki was no longer giving out the candy that she made. This weekend when she was asked why she was no longer giving out the candy she said too many people complained because they did not get one. She did say that the candy is donated to the children's hospital which I think is awesome! My problem is that people "feel like they are entitled and everything is owed to them". It is these people that ruin it for everyone else. No longer can there be surprises or special happenings because if everyone can't have it no one can.:mad: Sorry just had to vent. We did have a great trip and enjoyed our family time together.

Interesting...she was telling people it was a food safety thing, as that's been the "official" position since she stopped giving it out.

I am sure that entitled people are part of the issue. But in any event, she doesn't give them out anymore.Sad , but I just chalk it up and move on

I didn't know Miyuki stopped giving out her candy creations. I'm glad DD was able to get one (a blue koala) back in October 2008.

Interesting. That's not what she told someone else recently. She said it was she was going to be made to wear gloves because of food safety issues and she wouldn't be able to make the candy that way.

She told us 3 weeks ago that it was because she couldn't make enough for everyone so therefore could no longer choose only certain children. She said too many had complained about unfairness.

Maybe she rotates the story to keep it interesting? :confused3

I don't know what the "official" position has been, but I do know what I heard her say Sunday. After the show finished someone asked her why she was no longer giving out the candy and her reply was that Disney had received too many complaints from people who had not gotten the candy.

So what's next - no more audience participation because everyone can't be picked? Who's Crush going to talk to??? :confused3

I think that it being due to Guest Complaints is very logical. Earlier this year the Harmony Barber Shop started charging $3.00 extra for a "Child's First Haircut" as opposed to a regular child haircut price.

I asked Michael about it; his response was there were people complaining they paid the same price for "Precious" to get a haircut as the infant and they thought they were also entitled to a free set of Ears.

I'm sorry, but I have seen too often where people with a "me first" attitude have ruined the experience for other Guests.

you're a guest, so act like one, I say.

This is so true. I think they read the information somewhere and tell their children they are going to do something, get something and if it doesn't happen for them.....it's unfair! Instead of letting their children know what the plan is or better yet, don't make any promises and if they happen to get candy, wake Tink, etc, it's a nice surprise. If not, they still got to experience something new. I think all the little details is what makes Disney so great...not what I got for free. We've watched her make candy many times and are just amazed at what she can do. Getting candy would have been an added bonus, not something to be expected.

DH and I have a name for these people....we call them the ME First's!!!!

What a shame. I'm sure they just got sick of the complaints.

I think too many people don't have the brains or the balls to tell their own kids, "Sure, it would have been fun for you to be picked. But you were not, so let's be happy for the child who was."

I so agree, but when people pay a pretty penny to be a guest, that's when they start feeling entitled.

I have to say that whlie paying a pretty penny does help the feeling of entitlement I don't totally agree. I really believe that more and more people have begun to feel entitled everywhere. Oh, they ran out of the on sale tv's at Walmart, no problem pitch a fit, your kid didn't get picked for the basketball team, again no problem pitch a fit to the school. I mean i guess I could go on and on about it. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of good people in the world, but there are plenty of the entitled ones too.
