Candlelight's Now 2 Table Service Credits

Neither...DIsney is not getting any more of my money on this one.I am using the TS credits for a signature place and skipping it.If Dh wants to see it ( and he really could care less) ,we would try standby.

Let's just say I need to be on the phone at 5:00am on Sunday Sept. 13th to make my reservations :scared1:
Unfortunately I will be on a business trip in Las Vegas and I will be SO THRILLED to get up at 5:00am to do this :rolleyes1
Anyway, at least I will have the opportunity to get the CP package closer to Christmas. We are going 12/13-12/24 and I am hoping there will be decent ressies left after all those making ressies 90+10
I CANNOT WAIT for it to go back to 120 days :cloud9:

It's going to 180 days. You have to decide 6 months in advance where you want to eat.

Yes, I'll use my 2 DP credits for a tier 3 restaurant for dinner. Many of the tier 3 restaurants have appetizers that go for $8 or more. You best believe I'll go for a more expensive appetizer.

Now, I do have to make up that lost TS credit for another meal; so, I plan on having an entree without dessert at a counter service place. Entrees at CS restaurants will go for about the same price as a appetizer at a tier 3 restaurant; so, I consider this CS meal a breakeven comparing it to paying out of pocket for an appetizer. I can justify the 2 TS credits better this way.

Your TS credit is worth $30 a piece for tier 3 restaurant when you buy the CP package.

The cheapest you can go out of pocket for CP is lunch for $35 including tax but without tip. I'm not going to pay this OOP and I'm definitely not going to do a more expensive option OOP.

My one suggestion is to book early on DP; because, I have a strong suspicion tier 3 availability will go very fast.

I asked a CM last night how where the sales going on CP packages and he felt it was doing very well. This makes me think people are doing it whether they are using 2 TS credits or paying OOP. Now, this is only one CMs opinion.

I'll enjoy and use the fireworks preferred viewing area with delight.

I know there will be some who will skip it or do standby and bless you for doing so. I'm going with first timers and I could never feel good about them not doing the CP package. They are older with handicap and I can't see doing standby either.

You can listen to the Christmas story for free. You just can't eat dinner and then get guaranteed seating for the Christmas story unless you fork the cash out.

True, but why charge two TS credits for a single TS meal? I’m all for Disney making a profit but something about doubling the cost for seating at a Christmas story is wrong. I guess Disney is testing the market to see how high they can raise prices. I guess everyone has a different point where they judge monetary value. It’s bad enough to pay inflated dining prices. It’s like rubbing salt in a wound to add a 20% tip for the declining service. Personally I’m going to test the off site restaurants and see what Orlando has to offer.

all threads on the CP and ddp changes are merged here. Otherwise we would have 5 new ones every day!

Last year charging 1 credit was an awesome deal on the DDP. This year, it is still not a bad deal for top tie. Bottom tier, not such a geed deal.

Anyone who does not like the new price structure can either pay oop or as pp have said, line up and hope for a seat or stand in the background and listen.

We have the CD and listen to it every year while setting up the decorations and cooking xmas dinner

LOVE that CD it's my favorite Christmas music!

There is an idea, have dinner where you want and just buy the CD :rotfl2:

We have the CD too and the kids even love it - they are 6 & 3 years old! Honestly, the Candlelight Processional is my favorite holiday tradition. When I hear the choir start singing, I always get teary eyed. Doing the package has always been a part of it. I am not happy at all with the price increase but with two little kids, waiting in line for up to 2 hours is not an option. It looks like we will have to book it and deal with Disneys greed. I do agree with a previous poster who said that the stand by line will have more seating this year because there is no doubt that many people will opt out of the package due to the raise in cost and TS credit usage. I just can't risk it. Also, last year we got rained on for our show and were lucky enough to get covered seating because we did the package. So after mulling it over, we'll book it, but the cost does put a damper on it in a way!

There is one thing I am not clear on. In the information I was reading from it seemed as though the DDP credits could only be used for the lunch time and the 5pm showing. Did anyone else see this or have an explaination. We will not be there this year:sad2:, but I was still curious. (we can't take our november trip as planned as we are having a baby in October:cutie:)

I'm getting ready for my ressies next week and I've been calling dining CMs rather frequently trying to get correct info starting from two weeks ago. there is no restriction that I'm aware regarding DP and which tier restaurant or time you can do it.

This will be my first year @ WDW at Christmastime; after 30+ trips I can't believe I just typed that, but I digress..:lmao:

I'm sure to be in the minority here but I am glad they raised the DDP credits to 2 instead of 1. We are not doing the dining plan or I would definitely be thinking differently.

Since this will be our first Candlelight Processional (not many "firsts" left for my family @ WDW) I want to ensure we get priority seating and the best restaurants, no matter the cost. With the free dining sneaking into December, and if this had not been raised, I seriously doubt there would be anything left for those paying OOP.

We are choosing LeCellier and the evening seating for CP, and believe me I will be calling at 5:00am on Sunday the 13th to get it.

Since this is our first CP, and it is so important for me to get us the absolute best seating, I will bite the bullet and pay $160+ for this privilege (did I just type that :rotfl2:). But if it weren't such a landmark for us, it would be MUCH harder to justify such a cost IMO.

Yes. It is my understanding that you do. I booked mine for 11/28 when my window opened last Sunday. Also, you may already be aware that you can not use the online system to book these reservations. :)

Good Luck!

wow! The candlelight thing must be pretty special. I remember seeing some singing at Epcot when we were there at christmastime once, but I'm guessing this is not what you are referring to?

The official disney language is entitlements  aka credits (you know disney can't do simple!)

"Entitlements" is fine. It's the "dinner" part I think is confusing. TS "entitlements" aren't just for dinner. In fact, isn't the early CP package for lunch?

Did you buy it in Epcot? We're doing CP for the 1st time this year (DH didn't want to do it last year), but I'm sure that the CP cd will be added to our current collection that we listen to while decorating the house/tree. My mom & sister are going to trip over themselves with excitement when they see WDW at Christmas for the first time.

The problem with this argument is they're not charging for the Christmas story. You do have the option of seeing the show without doing the dinner package. Anyone can go to the theater, get a seat and listen to the story, if they go early enough. If the seating fills up, you can stand at the theater, see the show and hear the story. What they're charging for is the opportunity to make the whole thing easier. I agree, they're seeing what the market will bear. If no one books the packages, then they might change back. But I think the packages will book up. Maybe not as fast as they did last year, but I think they'll still book up. Plenty of posters are stating that they will pay the $60 plus or two TS credits for really nothing much more than reserved seating for the show, as you could also just make a reservation for the restaurant of your choice without the package and probably pay less per person.

I bought mine at the gift shop at the Boardwalk hotel but they are in Epcot too of course. Phylicia Rashad is the narrator on the CD, I love it!

I have never been to the Candelight Processional and was wondering what people thought of the 2 ts credits this year. What happens if you don't get the package? Can you get a seat? How long before the show should you get in line?
