Candlelight Processional ??

We will be at WDW from 12/4-12/13. We are traveling with my in-laws and our three kids (DD-7, DS-turning 5 on the trip, and DS- 19 months. We have never been to Disney in December and are wondering if the Candlelight Processional is appropriate for young children. My main concern is will they sit thru it or will it be "boring" to them?

Also, is the seating with the dinner package that much better than just waiting and getting a seat on your own?

Let me answer your last question first...

CP package seating is very good if you compare it to Fantasmic! package seating, IMHO. I was very pleased with our seats at CP with the package. They were front and center and under the cover. At Fantasmic, the package seats are far right.

Another thing about the seating is you can arrive late and still get a seat. There is still a line at first but you don't have to wait in it if you don't want the absolute best seat because you will get a seat no matter what.

Regarding your children. I think it depends on each child. We did it when our DD's were 2 and 5 and they did fine but our DD's go to Church every Sunday and are used to having to sit and be quite. That's a good test. How are they at Church or Temple? There's beautiful music and they enjoyed that part very much.

If you (not you personally, but everyone) have energetic kids who don't like to sit still and be quite for awhile then maybe you should wait till they are older...

But there were certainly kids there!

If your kids can't sit long for it, a good option is the tables outside the counter service restaurant at the American Pavillion. They are covered and you can get a bite to eat while you listen to the show. Going the first or second week, you should be able to get a seat without the package by going mid-week and getting in line 30 to 45 minutes before. The 5:00 show is usually less crowded. One good feature of the package is you get a 15% shopping discount that day, good on most items (some expensive collectable items are not included like Hummel, Swarowski, etc).

My DH and I loved the show. We booked the package only a few hours before dinner (mid-December). We weren't planning on doing a package, but didn't want to waste a lot of time by waiting in line. Plus, we decided to stay at Epcot and needed to eat anyway (don't tell my DH that I planned it that way!). We had to be flexible with where we wanted to eat and when (got San Angel Inn at 6:15 for the 8:15 show). We showed up only a few minutes before the show and had good seats. There were lots of kids watching and most were pretty mesmerized. You know your kids best! If they enjoy listening to Christmas music, they will probably be very entertained.

By the way, don't miss the tree lighting at Epcot. It was one of the greatest things we saw during the holiday season.

Saw the processional 4 nights last trip. Earlier in the week there was no problem getting a seat at the last minute. Other than that it is a short wait. Don't know if you want to make your children sit through a sit down dinner and then rush to the processional. You should have no problem getting seats without purchasing the package.
