Assuming this is the 1st weekend in December, as many are thinking - what are the experts' recommendations for being in the park that weekend? Is it something that if you want to see you need to dedicate the whole day to in order to secure a spot? Does it interfere with basic traffic patterns? Make it more difficult to park hop back into DL later in the day? Does it make ride lines shorter if you choose to not see it and hit the rides during that time? Any and all experience with this is greatly appreciated!! :goodvibes

I'd love to know the answer to this as well! We will be visiting Disneyland for my birthday from November 29th-December 2nd and I'm wondering how this would impact our weekend. I have never been to Disneyland so I have no idea what to expect during our trip!

1. Is it something that if you want to see you need to dedicate the whole day to in order to secure a spot?
2. Does it interfere with basic traffic patterns?
3.Make it more difficult to park hop back into DL later in the day?
4. Does it make ride lines shorter if you choose to not see it and hit the rides during that time?

These are some good questions because they cover most of what you need to know.

1. In the past Town Square is blocked of for VIP, that means not you. The edges are allowed for other guests. The guests line up about 60-120 minutes before, along Main Street. The CP goes down Main Street into Town Square and Assemble in front of the Train Station. The stand by guests follow them in and crowd around. It's not like the fireworks where you can watch from back on Main Street and it's ok. The view gets worse and worse if you are past the Emporium. They run it twice a night, so for the Second Show you can show up about 45 minutes early.

2. It's like entering or exiting DL during a parade. It's not easy, but possible. You get routed down the narrow walk ways on the edges. You can easily avoid it by staying in DCA or in the land of DL for about 4 hours and hardly know it happened.

3. Yes, see above.

4. Only about 1000 people watch this. This is a couple percent of the parks' guests, it hardly impacts waits. A lot of the guests come just for this, they come in watch and leave.

4.

It should also be mentioned that it shuts down the trains for several hours, so if you plan on using them to get around the park, you need to make other plans. I accidently went on CP day last year, and it was insane trying to get out of the park during it, as I had to go to work. However, what I did see of the CP made me want to try and see it this year, it looked AWESOME!

Thanks for this information! I didn't even realize there was a second performance. I think I will try to see this!
