We'll be in Epcot Dec. 11 and are looking forward to the 6:45 Candlelight Processional that night. I'm now wondering though, if my DD5 will enjoy the show, or at least tolerate it and behave while we do. Has anyone been to the CP with young kids? What did they think?

As a general rule I would not recommend taking very young children to the Candlelight Processional. The kids expect attractions to be "fun" to do at Walt Disney World, and the Processional is not entertaining to most children. They tend to get very restless and bored during what seems to them to be a VERY LONG program.

You might want to consider seeing the Processional during a subsequent visit when the children are older. And with children of any age, I would recommend the earliest performance, at 5:00 pm, if you must take the child to this attraction.

Enjoy.

We haven't taken my boys to the CP yet. They are 4 and 6 and I just think that they will be too restless! We are saving it for a few years. Pleanty of other stuff to do and see :santa:

Hi, I can speak with some authority on this one! I've tried taking my DS the last 3 years (he's 4 this year), and it's not good. Every child's temperament is different of course, but there's just not a lot to keep them entertained, I don't think.
The good news is I've had good luck just hanging out behind the ropes to watch at least some of it. DS could run around some, or snooze in the stroller if he preferred, and we could walk on at a moment's notice if necessary. True, you can't see as much through the trees, but the sound is still fantastic back there.

I may be misjudging DD4 on this, but we are going to the 5 pm CP on 12/12. She loves music and pageantry and decorations so I'm betting she will enjoy this. I did get the package, we'll be eating at Biergarten earlier, so we will have seats and DH and DD19 will be along to talk to her if she gets restless. If it comes down to it, I guess I could take her out if she gets too restless.

Last December, we took our son (1 month before his 4th birthday) to see the Candlelight Processional. Actually, he saw it twice that trip. He sat through it and did fine. It wasn't his favorite thing that Disney trip. But he was quiet and still and just watched it. Just to add, my son is normally a very active and quite loud child. :)
