Candlelight Processional narrators out

Edward James Olmos is an actor. Depending on your age, you may remember him in "Stand and Deliver" (I think that's the name)-teachers love to show that one about a high school inner city teacher who taught his students Calculus. He was also in "Selena" in the mid-late 90's, as the father. I remember him as the cool guy who said very little on "Miami Vice". He's also a big crusader for Hispanic rights.

Well, I guess I'm kinda old, lol, but Robbie Benson was a huge teen heart-throb back in the early-mid 70's when I was in Jr. High. He was in a bunch of teen movies; "Ice Castles" is one that comes to mind.

Ah, that's the problem - I must be too young :p. I was born in the early 70's. So he did the voice of the Beast, hmm ok. Still rather surprised that he's doing the prized Christmas Eve shows.

Well, I'm not too in love with any of my choices of narrators during our stay. We have already set our plans for 12/18, so we have Edward James Olmos. We catch his final reading. I hope he does a great job. Mickey

Steven Curtis Chapman is one of the most famous/most popular christian artists EVER! :) haha I think I'm biased cuz I have looked up to him ever since I was younger and I think he rocks!! He is on the same level as Michael W. Smith......they have both recieved over 20 Dove Awards (the christian music awards) as well as multiple Grammys :)

oh, and I know Andy Garcia as Mr. Benedick in Ocean's Eleven :)

Hmmm...Looks like we will have Rita Moreno. SInce someone seems to know something about everyon on the list, can you help me out and let me know a little bit about her. I am clueless!;) Thanks:earsboy:

Another tid bit about Steven Curtis Chapman: He is Amy Grant's ex-husband. Amy Grant is also a contemporary Christian artist.

Spot check:

Favorite Andy Garcia part was as the Italian-American sharpshooter in the movie "The Untouchables". He is a terrific actor.

Rita Moreno has done a ton of Broadwayand film, danced and sang in the original movie "West Side Story", and did some work on PBS's "Electric Company". Most recently as the nun on HBO's "Oz".

My favorite part for Edward James Olmos was from "Blade Runner" where he was made up as a kind of Hispanic/Oriental policeman who did the origami (folded paper).

For us older folks, Robby Benson always seemed to play shy soft-spoken characters... which is a real trip when you find out he is the voice of the Beast... check out the "extra" material on the DVD to see an interview with him.

I remember Ben Vereen from the TV series "Roots". He is also a great song and dance man from Broadway.

Gary Senise is awsome. Played grounded astronaut Mattingly in "Apollo 13", and Lt. Dan from "Forrest Gump".

Edward James Olmos was very good last year.....started out speaking Spanish and then translated to English "for those of you who are Spanish impaired" Considering later that week we had Marlee Matlin, who did everything in sign with an interpreter it was an overall enriching experience!

My mom always said how she thought Robby Benson was cute! LOL I was hoping he'd be narrating last year when my parents were with us so I could tease her!

And I have no more idea of who Michael W. Smith is than I do Steven Curtis Chapman....though I have heard of Amy Grant! But as I said contemporary Christian music isn't really my thing.

Sounds like a great list to me. I do need to make one correction: Steven Curtis Chapman isn't Amy Grant's ex-husband-that would be Gary Chapman who used to host a country talk show on TNN.

After reading the above I wanted to edit that Gary is also a very good singer-songwriter.

Rita Moreno is a very talented and versatile actress. If you grew up in the 70's you might remember her from Electric Company on PBS. She's one of the few actors who've won an Emmy, a Tony and an Oscar. I bet she'll be great. Oops edited to add she also won a Grammy.

We saw Gary Sinese when we were at CP a couple of years ago. He did a fantastic job.

At a quick glance I thought we had Rita M. That would have been too cool but alas - TBD. More patience.... I have to say reading this thread I shook my head and thought "well gee I know ALL of these people. I didn't think I was that old?!" For the record the Robbie Benson and Ice Castles comment brought a HUGE :teeth: to my face. I thought he was so cute - he was up there with Leigh McCloskey (quite a bit off topic but remember him ;) )

We still may have to switch some plans and maybe go to CP twice (with and w/o package) just to see Ms. Moreno...hmmm....

Thanks so much for that FYI!!! I am so excited to go see this again, this year!!! It will be cool to be able to see Rita Moreno narrate!

Oh come on guys, nobody remembers Ben Vereen in Zoobilee Zoo on channel 13 or 21. My son loved this show. He has a wonderful voice and I think he will be great.

We will be there for Gary Senise 12/30/04 - I'm glad everyone seemed to enjoy him. I'm so excited! Gina

Ok....so Robby Benson was MY first choice...really wanted to see him. But instead we have the famous speaker TBA who is probably quite good.

Now, since I'm feeling soooooo old with the Robby Benson and Ben Vereen comments, I'll grab my cane and ask my attendent to remove my beloved Robby Benson posters from the wall. <sigh>

Hope you young whipper snappers have a good time at the event!

~~Beth (looking for new posters of TBA.)

OK, Sandi Patty? Never heard of her.

Given the choice of Sandi Patty, Steven Curtis Chapman and Edward James Olmos, which would you choose? (Of course, pending whichever day has dinner packages still available...)

Annie&Hallie'sMom, Thanks for the info!
I saw Ben in the CP back in 1999. He was wonderful. He has a very powerful voice and definitely gets into the whole experience.

Sandi Patty is also a Christian singer.....more for the older demographic HA

I had Yolanda Adams last year for CP.....(another christian singer)

But given the choice between Sandi and Steven, I would pick Steven...but then again, I am 21 and I like him better...HA

If you had to pick would you see Patty Sandy or Robbie Benson. The only draw back maybe is that it would be our last day. They say the show goes on even in the rain. HELP!
