Still trying to decide when to go. Please take a minute to answer the poll.

We loved Gary Sinese, but we saw him on Christmas Day. Even with buying the CP dinner package and getting there 45 minutes ahead of time, we still had to sit pretty far back. Gary usually does a few days, but if we again I would avoid Christmas Day or Christmas Eve because of the crowds.

I know this sounds weird because she didn't even talk that much, but seeing Marlee Matlin was very moving.

She signed the passages and there was a male sign language interpreter that did the actual oration.

You would think that that would be distracting, you would think that you just paid big bucks to see "Bob the sign language interpreter do the CP'

But it was not. It was really very moving. Marlee's face and hands did the talking for her. She was very passionate in her presentation. As the choir sang behind her she felt the music and was moved by it.

She did speak a few words at the end and the whole experience was very touching.

BTW for the longest time I could not stand her, mainly because DH has a crush on her, so I was in no way biased toward her before seeing her in the CP.

My alltime favorite was James Avery, saw him a couple of times. He had a powerful voice.

We've seen David Ogden Stiers, Phil Donahue, and Heather Headly. Heather Headly was incredible. She was my favorite until last year. Then I got to see/hear Steven Curtis Chapman...man, he was terrific. So, this year I'm booking for Phylicia Rashad, but also heading over to catch Steven Curtis Chapman, as well as Neil Patrick Harris. No package on those nights, I'll just stand and watch outside for a bit.

I would agree with you Debbie that James Avery was my favorite. He had that big voice that was great. He also spoke the words as if he really believed them.

While none of the ones listed are my favorite, I did choose Edward James Olmos. We really did enjoy him last year. Our absolute favorites are James Avery and Rita Moreno. We've also heard Steven Curtis Chapman and enjoyed him. The one narrator we will never see again is Gary Sinise. Now, I know lots of you like him, but we were very disappointed in his narration.

We saw Harry Hamlin 2 years ago and he was wonderful - had a very powerful voice - perfect for narrating! Mabye he will be added as a TBD.We haven't decided who we will see yet so I'm interested in the results.

157 views and only 28 votes? I thought that the CP was really popular with DISers. :confused3

By far Steven Curtis Chapman is the best. I'm not judging the others but with him you can really tell & feel that what he is reading REALLY means something to him and that it's not just a story. He gets my vote every time. :santa:

I voted for Dennis Franz for a couple of reasons. #1 he is slated to do the job earlier in the month, so the crowds should be better. #2 I think that it would be cool to hear the Mr. Messenger from "City of Angels" do the reading. #3 I love his NY accent. Maggie

We were planning to go to see Gary Sinise. Then during a pod cast, I think it was the DIS, I got a negative feeling about Mr Sinise. The poll results rank him as a favorite. I guess he is back at the top of my list. :thumbsup2
