Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has gone to the CP without getting the dining package and how hard it was to get a seat? Is any one of the times easier to get into than the others? I'm not sure I want to get the dining pkg because I usually get 2 app's or an appetizer and salad rather than an entree and alot of times we don't do dessert. Plus alot of times my ds orders off on the adult menu. We are not on the dining plan.
We would still like to see the candlelight processional- it doesn't matter which show time. Any experience or advice? Thanks!! :)

Depends on a few things.

1) How popular is the narrator?
2) How long are you willing to wait in line?

I believe the first show is the least preferred, because it isn't dark out yet. However, with a popular narrator you might have to wait in that line a couple of hours to even get into the first show.

We've been to the CP many times without using the dining package. It's true that it can be very hard to get into without a dining package for the very popular narrators such as Whoopi Goldberg and Neil Patrick Harris unless you want to spend hours in the standby line. But we usually go on a weeknight when there's a less popular narrator, preferably one I've barely even heard of. For those performances, we've usually been able to just walk in the back of the theater after they've let the standby line in. Personally I won't spend the money on the grossly inflated prices they charge for the CP meals, and I won't spend hours standing in line when I could be doing other things. For the few times that I haven't been able to just walk in, I've listened from just outside the back of the theater. Sometimes I stand, if I'm up for it, or more often I sit at the tables outside the American Adventure fast food place. It isn't particularly a visual event, so as long as you can hear it, you can enjoy it.

Thanks for this info. We've never been and it sounds like a great experience. Does anyone know approx how long the performance is? We're going during Thanksgiving week, so it's probably going to be really busy. Thank you again for sharing your experiences :)

It's approximately 45 min. Thanksgiving week means it won't be showing until Thanksgiving day and after, so you'll need to plan accordingly. I would also keep a look out for the narrators. If it is one of the popular ones, you'll either want to plan to sit at Liberty Inn tables outside the theater or get a CP package.

Thanks. I booked a CP pkg for lunch at Via Napoli (dinner wasn't available) for 11/30 - the 6:45pm show. I know we're going to love it! :)
