Candlelight Processional and CM Party Info!

I decided to call Disneyland directly and see if I could get some answers. The CM on the phone confirmed immediately that the CP is scheduled for the 4th and 5th of December.

So, I then pointed out that the Park is closing early on the 13th and 14th and asked if the CM parties would be on those days. She said...nooooo, CM parties are on the 6th and 7th and Disneyland should close at 7:00.

She put me on hold...did some checking...and came back with this:

CP ~ December 4 and 5
CM Party ~December 6 and 7, park closing at 7:00, Disneyland.com calendar currently incorrect
Private parties on December 13 and 14, park closing at 6:00, fireworks at 6:00 but attractions closing. All times subject to change.

Ooh, very interesting! Private parties, huh? Does that have any impact on crowd levels, does anyone know? Maybe similar to cast parties (at least what I've heard) that because its closing earlier, MAYBE lower crowds those days?

Drat! I know that they will still have the Castle lighting before the park closes at 6 p.m., but it's not the same for some reason. It's dark, but not dark enough! I like seeing the snow on Main Street and the Castle aglow at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. - not at 6 p.m.

Private parties? I don't think that happened last year or we would have heard it on the DIS. I wonder which bigwig rented out DL and decided to have a holiday bash.

I'm sure that's what she meant, yes.

LOL didn't even think about them both have CP initials. YES CP = Candlelight Processional. The Cast Parties are after hours and I would guess they should not increase park attendance, if anything others will postpone trips as to avoid shortened hours.

Wow, I am a little bummed about losing out on the 13th. Our flight leaves on the 14th so the 13th is our last day. We were going to head to Knotts earlier in our trip and I wanted DLR to be on our last day. We might have to make our Knotts day on the 13th...

I would want DLR to be the last day too...at least DCA is open til 9pm. You could at least still have a full day at DL and then head over to DCA for the last couple of hours? Just a thought...

Well, even knowing that the "private parties" are going to be held on 12/13 and 12/14 and that annoys me, I went ahead and booked my visit. Barring anything that pops up to prevent me from going (and I won't believe that everything is working like clockwork until I get there!), I will be there from 12/12 - 12/15. So...I guess I will have to make 12/12 my 'late day,' where I stay in DL and catch the snow, etc. I will make 12/13 and 12/14 my 'go sit in the GCH lobby and enjoy the carolers' nights, or I will head over to DCA and see what's there.

I'm hoping that these dates will be less crowded than the dates I usually go in December!!

Disney continues to raise it's prices and reduce the amount of time the general public can actually be in the park. Slightly frustrating.

For the last 3 holiday seasons, I have ended up at DLR on the weekend immediately before Christmas. It always seemed to work out that way. Last year it was soooo crowded - more so than in 2008 or 2007. So this time, by switching it to mostly weekdays instead of the weekend right before the holiday, I'm hoping it won't be as much of a madhouse as it was last year. Maybe, if those private parties do happen, that will deter some folks from going in the parks on those two days. Although, that probably means that Sunday, 12/12 will be extra busy, but I'll cope!

I just spoke with a CM when making my PS reservations. She told me that the CM parties were scheduled for the 6th and 7th, but they have been movied to the 13th and 14th.
