Candlelight Processional and a few ????

I keep checking, but there are no park hours or parade schedules listed on the official DL site yet... Looks like they are behind WDW.

Looks like the parade times for DL in December have just been posted!

Bumping!!

Is the Candlelight Processional the telling of the Christmas story? Does it stay in one place, or like a parade?
Thanks!

(so this is not the same as Grand Marshall right??)

Candlelight Processional is the telling of the Christmas Story. It starts off as a Parade (hence the processional), then ends at either at Town Square or at the Fantasyland Theater (depending on where they hold it).

So do they walk and tell the story as they are walking? Or have the 'processional', end it at the Fantasyland Theatre and then tell the story there?

Sorry for all the dumb questions, but can you give me a start to finish on it??

Thanks! :flower:

Well, I managed to catch the processional last year and it was so wonderful! It was easily the highlight of my trip.
There was an orchestra set up in front of the train station at Main Street with Choir risers in behind. There are chairs in the front but those are reserved for people with tickets and those are given to Disney corporation guests. There may be a very few available for a special dinner package. I think I saw that mentioned on mousesavers.com. Around the outside, the general public can stake out a spot and crowd around for a view.
The lights on Main Street dim and a huge choir comes down singing and carrying candles. They are actually many choirs joined together for this. They sing Christmas carols as they process down the street and file up onto the risers.
Last year's narrator was Marie Osmond and this year Dick vandyke (sorry about the misspelling but the auto-editor keeps "***"ing his name!) is apparently scheduled to speak. So, Marie Osmond read the Christmas story as it is told in the gospel of Luke. The choir sang carols interspersed with the readings. It was so beautiful and moving. I especially liked the trumpeters up on top of the train station.
If you've ever been to a Christmas cantata at your school or church, this is very much a cantata.
It lasted less than an hour, I think. I know that the second night, it was cancelled altogether due to rain.
The whole thing was quite wonderful and if you're going to Disneyland at Christmas it is so worth it to try to schedule it for a time when you can see this.

bclydia--

Thank you so much for the info! It sounds great! What day of the month/week was it that you saw it? We are there the beginning of December, I hope we can see it!

Oh. Thanks.

I can't find it on any of the Dis sites, Disneyland.com calendar or anywhere else,so I wanted to be sure. Where did you find it that I am not looking?? :)

Thanks!

Just when you think you know all the Disney sites, another one pops up!! :cool1:

I wish they would give the time and location of it (the Candlelight Processional)

It is supposed to be moved back to Fantasyland Theater agan this year, due to the fact that Snow White wasn't popular enough to run during the off-season, so now the theater will be availble for Candlelight (or so they say today, who knows about tomorrow?)

Also rumor has it that they may have it for multiple weekends this year (I think that's probably wishfull thinking though)

Here's the latest from Guest Services...

Thank you for your e-mail to the Disneyland Resort.

Also known as the "Choir of 1,000 Voices," The Candlelight Procession & Ceremony is both a Christmastime tradition at Disneyland park and a local community celebration. The carolers are comprised of Cast Members, local high school students and music clubs. A celebrity narrator tells the story of Christmas, while the choir supplies musical interludes. A full orchestra provides the music for the inspiring presentation.

This year, The Candlelight Procession & Ceremony will be held on December 3 and 4 in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. The narrator will be Dick VanDyke. Further details, such as seating plans and other event details, have yet to be determined. Please check with us again in the near future for any additional information.

Sincerely,

Disneyland Resort

No you do not need tickets but seating is usually VERY limited and you must purchase a dinner package to get one. Otherwise you can just stand on main street and see/hear it.

By dinner package, do you mean the dining plan??

No. I am talking of that in the past you had to make special dinner package arrangements, that include seating for the CP. You make package arrangments, including a PS, at one of the select restaurants, spend an excess amount on food (I believe between $25 - $50 per person) and get guarenteed seating. Details for this year have not been released.

I was on the phone with a CM this morning, and he told me this about the CP-

-It starts at Small World. The lights are shut off all over Disneyland. All that there is for light is the candles of hundreds of choir members. They start singing and walking along from Small World to the Town Square.
-They then walk up to the area by the train station.
-The Christmas story is told from there.
-You can only get seats with a dining reservation at a restaurant in the Resort.
-By next week, possibly this weekend you will be able to book your seats.
-He said it is amazing.

Can't wait to see it.

I've never seen it and I'm hoping we can be there that weekend. Will Dick Van **** be there in person? I would sooooo love to see him in person!
