Candelight - unsure of party size?

Just a quick question - we are planning our Christmas trip and I'm planning to call next week to try to get CP. I'd like 12/25 but have backup dates to try as well. My problem is that I'm unsure of how many of us there will be - we are a family of 5 but one of my sons may have a special guest join us for part of the week. Can I make a reservation for 6 just in case she joins us, or will I be charged extra if only 5 of us show up? I'm pretty sure making a reservation for 5 and showing up with 6 won't work at all.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you don't remove the sixth person within 48 hours of the reservation I think it is possible you will be charged for them if they don't show up. If you are not going to know whether or not she will be with you by then, I don't know what you can do besides book for 5 and try to get her included at the restaurant. On Christmas Day I am not sure how likely that is.

We will know by that week if she'll be joining us. Will I be able to call a few days ahead of time and reduce the reservation by 1 if needed? I didn't know if I'd be able to do that or not.
