Cancun Allinclusive Family Resort

We stay at a fantastic resort about an hour south of Cancun called Barcelo Maya. There are 3 sections to the resort and the beach they sit on is about 1 mile long. 2 sections have chldren's waterparks - all have a children's club type baby sitting. The beach is the most beautiful I have ever seen, food is great, rooms are amazing. We booked the Palace section through Orbitz for late May and are paying $1900 for 7 nights and non stop airfare from EWR. The rooms alone in the states would cost at least $500/night IMHO and you get all your food, drinks, non motorized watersports, etc. included for much less than that. If you want more information, send me a pm and I will give you a link to their discussion boards.

I second the previous poster, Barcelo Maya Palace. We went last summer and it was wonderful. The best beach vacation we have ever had. We went for a week with two adults and two teens out of Chicago and spent less than $2800 total and we stayed at the Palace. The Palace is the highest end resort, the Tropical and Colonial are in the middle, and the Beach and Caribe the end. Check out this website: http://www.unofficial-barcelo-maya.com. It is a site and forum all about this resort. Feel free to pm me if you want more information.

I also agree about the Palace resorts. We stayed at the Moon Palace, but toured several other Palace resorts, and they all looked great. We have also stayed at the Robinson Club and really enjoyed it also.

We have stayed in Playa Del Carmen...about 30 minutes south of Cancun, which is a much better area than Cancun for families. We stayed at the Iberostar Tucan and it was great. This year we are staying at the Sandos Playacar, which is next to Iberostar. It also has good reviews and was a lot less $. We didn't think we would like the all-inclusive concept, but we all loved it!

Don't do Cancun with a family. Do Playa or someplace outside of Cancun. We vacationed at the Iberostar Tucan as well and it was fabulous! We will try the Barcelo Maya next time. Thanks for the Orbitz tip, WOW. We payed twice that much!

If I can ask, why do you say "don't do cancun with a family"? We're also looking for this summer, but ds (15) wants to go fishing but I don't think we could afford one of those boat trips for him to fish. So is there anyplace on the island or beach he can fish?

We have stayed at Crown Paradise twice in the past. It's no a top of the line resort but we had a blast!:cheer2:

We adore the Royal Resorts both in Cancun and Playa. They are truly family resorts. They are full service resorts but condos and therefore are not all inclusive. We have food allergies in our family plus we don't eat or drink heavily, PLUS we really want good food. And so it works well for us to have our one kitchen. We LOVE the people who work at the Royals - they are truly wonderful.

We went to Dreams Cancun this October and had a blast. I didn't think that I was going to be a fan of Cancun, but I loved it there at that resort. It has two beaches, if very kid friendly and the staff was just wonderful. It was really relaxing. The main pool is a little small, but the beaches more than made up for it. Oh, and they have dolphins on property there. It was so much fun getting up and just watching the dolphins everyday.

Who does everyone suggest booking with? The reason I'm asking is because we are a family of 5 and most require you get two rooms....which we prefer anyway. But the price always comes out to like $8000 for a week. That is why we alternate between Disney and a cruise.

If anyone knows how to get the prce lower, I'd love to know.

Thanks!

After reading the info on this thread about Barcelo Maya I booked through Orbitz today....$2791 for 7 nights, family of 4.

I am very excited :cool1:

WOW, I am getting over $7000 for a family of 4 out of CLT with flights.

What month did you book? That is room only correct?

I'm interested in knowing when too! lol We are looking for June, but nothing is catching my eye. I don't know whether to book now or wait.

We have stayed at the Ritz Carlton which was gorgeous and wonderful and the Crown Paradise Club. The CPC was a spur of the moment, Orbitz trip, last winter when it was -20 here for days and days and we just needed to get OUT. Air, lodging, AI for under $3000 for all 5 of us for a week. It is a very much 3 star place and it was the BEST vacation. We had so much fun. It was not luxe but goodness did we have a wonderful time.

It was January so not very crowded. I think going at the height of Spring Break might make the place a little insane.

We love Cancun due to the fact that you can fly direct from MSP and that the resorts are all so close to the airport. The last thing we want to do after a flight with kids is drive an hour or so.
