I most likely have to cancel my upcoming DVC ressie.

The question is rather than losing the points and/or try to set a new date(probably won't be able to do that either). would it be better to find someone who would want those exact dates or cancelling the ressie and than trying to rent/transfer tne points.

Since most are borrowed points there would be certain restrictions, right?

If i go the route of finding someone who wants those exact dates, where would i post that and can i just change the name on the ressie.

I'm not sure if i would do it on the rent trade board unless i cancel it and than try and rent/transfer just the points.

You could try putting the exact reservation up on Craigslist.

You could try to rent the reservation (you can't offer it on the DVC Rent/Trade Board until 30 days before arrival) but unless the points will expire soon you may have better success cancelling (as long as it's 31 days or more before the arrival date) and renting the points to someone by making a reservation for resort, room type and dates of their choosing. You won't be able to transfer the borrowed points - only points from the current Use Year.

If you are already within 30 days of arrival, I'd just offer the existing reservation since cancelling would have the points go into the Holding Account.

Good luck! :)

I edited the above post, as with the specific information given, I would have had to delete it. Posts with too specific information are considered Rent/Trade posts and not allowed on any board except the R/T Board.

To answer your questions, as you are still 31 days prior to your scheduled arrival, cancelling the reservation would incur no penalties, except that borrowed points would need to be used by the end of your use year. Borrowed points also can not be transferred, but you can can rent them by making a reservation for someone else.

If you wish to keep your existing reservation, and try to rent it, you may post it on the Rent/Trade Board, but not more than 30 days prior to the check-in date.

Personally, I'd cancel the reservation and try to rent the points, or use them before the end of my use year. You may also be able to deposit them with RCI for future use at a World Passport Collection resort, though you would need to contact Member Services for clarification, as RCI just started their current DVC agreement, depositing rules may be different that they were with Interval International.
