Currently we are booked RT on SW. However, I would really like an earlier return flight (we do not get home till 11pm...and we all have work/school at 7 the next morning).

Anyway, I would like to cancel the return portion of my SW flight, and then book an earlier flight on Delta (nonstop..). When I cancel SW, do I get the actual money back, or is it a credit?

If it's a credit, I will just book an earlier flight on SW with it (layover). If it's the actual money back, we will do the Delta portion.

Thanks!!

If you did not book a refundable flight, the money will be credited back in the form of travel funds that have to be used by one year from the orginal purchase date. When you use those funds your trip must be completed by the purchase date. For example if the ticket with the travel fund credit was bought on Jan 10, the trip you take using the credit must be completed by Jan 9, 2014 so your return date can not be any later than Jan 9

Thanks! That is what I thought but wanted to double check. So....we booked an earlier flight on SW with a layover. Normally I do not mind layovers - love hanging out in other airports. But it's in Chicago, in March. Where I have been stranded b/c of weather before. Just keep your fingers crossed for decent weather :)
