cancelling or changing reservations?

Can you cancel or change a reservation once you make it? Do you lose points if doing this?

Reservations cancelled 31 days or more in advance will return the points to your contract to be used or banked (subject to normal deadlines and policies).

Reservations cancelled 30 days or less prior will return the points to the "Holding Account" where the points may only be used to make a reservation within 60 days of the date you call. These points cannot be banked or transferred and will expire at the end of your current Use Year.

Reservations cannot be cancelled the day of arrival- they are considered "used" on that date and all points in the reservation will be committed to the cancelled reservation.

Reservations made for non-DVC resorts and programs have similar retrictions except that any points returned to your account will be in "Reservation Status" which means that they cannot be used at DVC resorts and may ONLY be used for non-DVC options. This is because the points are committed to CRO for cash reservations as soon as the reservation was origianlly reserved and will not be returned to DVC inventory. "Reservation" points will also expire at the end of the current Use Year.

If any points for these reservations had been borrowed from the next Use Year, they will not be returned to that Use Year. they cannot be borrowed or transferred and will expire at the end of the Use Year.
