We leave on 9/12 for a 7 night stay, just my wife and I. We used the fall discount on the room and paid for the dining plan. All is paid for and ready, all ADR and FP+ already made. We have 2 signature restaurants and several other table service meals, total of 9 TS credits booked. I was planning on paying for two TS meals out of pocket, when I started doubting whether the dining plan was right for us. We love the idea of pre paying and not worrying about entree cost while there. However trying to worry about how to use QS credits versus TS credits just doesn't make sense. After doing the math, realizing that we might often order a cocktail and not use the drink, and might often split a dessert, I think this plan doesn't make sense for us.

Question is, does anybody have experience in Cancelling the dining plan just 12 days before travel? Is that even possible? Given that we have already paid would we get a credit? And what is the chance of us losing our FP+ reservations given the glitches in the system I keep reading about?

I believe there will be a $50 fee for changes this close to arrival. But it might still make sense to cancel even with the fee.

As the pp said, you can take the DDP off, but you will incur a $50 change fee since you are less than 45 days from arrival. The refund would be the total cost of the plan minus the $50 fee, which would be a credit to the cc you used for payment. We haven't been since the MBs were implemented, but I don't think taking the DDP off your package would change anything as far as your FP+ choices. If you changed everything by taking both the tickets and DDP off and changed to a RO reservation, I think that would impact your FP+ as the tickets would be gone too, but just removing the DDP shouldn't change anything as far as FP+ is concerned. Hopefully someone will be able to verify that or correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks all. I made the change today and did have to pay $50 but I believe we will come out well ahead in the end. No changes to the ADRs or FP+!
