Cancelling DDP???

I am not sure what forum this should be posted in, but I need to know if it is possible to cancel the DPP. We are staying with someone's DVC points so I hate to have them sit on hold with Disney for me if it is not even possible. The DDP has already been paid with a gift card and linked to our reservation. Can we just call and cancel it and have the money refunded to the gift card? Can I chose to cancel it at check-in and get the refund then? TYIA!

There is a 45 day in advance deadline for cancellation without "penalty".

After that there is a $50. fee for making changes or cancellations, I'm not sure if this fee is higher just a few days before or at check in.

The fee is sometimes waived if there is a net addition (you substitute other features and pay more altogether) to the package.

Talk to the person you rented from the DDP can be cancelled on a DVC reservation until 48 or 72 hours (sorry cannot remember). They should be able to credit it back to your gift card. Also if you are traveling with others on the DVC points either everyone in the room has to get the DDP or no one gets the dining plan. It cannot be cancelled at check in.
