Hi, we may need to cancel a reservation that we used Borrowed (2013) points for. I understand that if you cancel, the points are returned to the use year in which the reservation falls (2012). My question is: are the points that are returned able to be banked so that we could then use them in 2013? Or, do they become "un-bankable" and have to be used in UY2012?

Thanks!

Borrowing is a final transaction - unfortunately, you cannot bank then and return them to the year from which they were borrowed.

That's what I thought. Thanks for confirming! Just trying to preplan. Looks like I'll need to schedule another vacation, which is not that bad of a thing.

I have banked other points with a "reservation" that included borrowed so..

If your reservation has, say, 100 points from this year and 100 points borrwed, you can bank this year (assuming you are inside the window and cancellation policies) which "moves" 100 points to next year and means you have fewer at risk for this year.

So, in short, if I have to cancel (and it looks like this is the case) my *** stay, on 2013 pts., I should either try to rent the points myself, or give them over to someone else to try to rent out??? No way I'll be heading to WDW with college tuition payments happening!!!

1) Your options, on the DIS, would be to cancel the reservation and try renting the points.

2) Cancel the reservation and contact our board sponsor about renting the points.

3) Leave the reservation intact, but you may not offer any existing reservation on the DIS until 30 days or less prior to the check-in date.

Thanks Chuck...sorry about the month mention!!! Forgot where I was!!! Duh.
