Cancelling a banked point trip

If I cancel a trip I booked with banked points and have another trip scheduled already, will those points be used for the next trip automatically?

I was considering it a total, not specific categories. In other words, I have 100 banked points and 150 current year, I was thinking the first 100 points that get used would automatically be the banked points but wanted to check.

Call member services and make sure the right points are used. Bad things happen to good points…

You can modify online and it will reallocate the points by using banked or borrowed first and then current UY. Just go through the modification process but keep everything the same. The system will update the points being used.

There is no automatic reallocation to existing trips from cancelled. If you want that done you need to either do it via the modify option or by calling MS and asking them.

@tracee22, you would have to take action (call or modify) to reallocate the banked points to the remaining reservation.

And to add, the reallocation must happen before the trip is taken and at least 31 days prior to arrival to avoid the freed up points going into holding.

Once you travel, MS can not retroactively change points that were used.
