Cancelled Wish Cruise and Received a Survey From DCL

The same reason they ask you your race/ethnicity/income/etc. To determine the demographics of their customers and use that data to plan offerings and marketing strategy.
Depends on how the question was phrased. If it is just a yes/no question then you still don't know a lot when there was more than 1 person in the room.

Have you sailed on the wish already? Or you are canceling based on videos/reviews that say the adult area is too small?
No we haven’t but we know what we enjoy on the cruises. We are platinum DCL adult only cruisers.
We had our 10th anniversary vow renewal on the Fantasy 10 years ago.

We like walking around the ship on the covered waking/running path (Wish doesn’t have this), we like getting in the hot tubs in the mornings (Wish has 1 hot tub so hard to get one and we go when others aren’t in them), we like going to Cove Cafe for breakfast of coffee and pastries (no pastries in Cove Cafe, I’m actually owed a free coffee from my last cruise because my punch card is full) We like dining at Remy for the champagne brunch (Enchante is not living up to expectations) or a nice dinner at Palo (we don’t eat a lot of steak, so a steak house is not our style). I like to unpack my clothes into drawers and not live out of a suitcase (Wish has no drawers for unpacking). All of these things I know are missing on the Wish without sailing on the Wish.

I was really excited about going on the Wish. I cancelled a WDW vacation and rented my DVC points. After hearing it doesn’t have what we love, why sail on her? Maybe these things don’t matter to some people, but they matter to us. It’s okay. I’m sure the ship has great kids clubs and the MDRs look fun. Not every ship will meet the needs of everyone. It wasn’t built for adult cruisers. If the price came down a lot, I would probably sail on it, but not at the current price.

a nice dinner at Palo (we don’t eat a lot of steak, so a steak house is not our style)
I can't help with the rest, but for what it's worth, the PALO Streakhouse menu is just the regular Palo menu, plus streaks. So, you don't have to get steak.

I cancelled our 4 night on the Wish for an 8 night on the fantasy. We went down from a verandah room to an OGT rate on fantasy but the price ended up being virtually the same. I though I’d be sad to miss out on the all new Wish, but I’m so glad that I made the change and am excited for the Fantasy. We’ve only been on the Magic 15 years ago so Fantasy is new to us. I couldn’t pass up a twice as long cruise for nearly the same price (would have only been 3-400 more if I had wanted to do VGT but decided not to do OGT price to keep price the same).

For us, the price, the ports, and length of cruise were better with the Fantasy than the Wish. And since it’s just me and a toddler, most the new things on the Wish didn’t really matter to us or just weren’t that exciting to us

I see. Another poster had responded to me in another thread saying 9/5 on the Wish had GT and I took his word for it. Just checked and those are GTY. That poster apparently didn't know the difference. Lesson learned on taking people's word for it.

4-Night Very Merrytime Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral

Nov 28 - Dec 2, 2022

This is not true. My sailing on 9/5 has GT rooms available on the Wish

Yes I recently saw GTY sailings also. I was shocked.

On another note when I called to cancel 1 portion of the B2b scheduled. The CM
did ask me why. I just said since it is Christmas time we decided to add that portion to
WDW instead. I did add relative to COST the other ships seem better value.

Yeah, I've noticed an increase in confusion about this lately. Just to explain, @Cheburashka is correct: there are two types of "guaranteed" booking categories, and only one is offered on the Wish. Once you know the difference between them, the explanation makes total sense:

1) *GT rates, also known as "guaranteed with restrictions" is where you book a general stateroom type: veranda (VGT), oceanview (OGT) or interior (IGT) and DCL choose a room for you that is that type or better. This is frequently discounted 25% or more, and is non-refundable and non-transferable from the moment you book. It cannot be combined with any other offer, including placeholder discounts. GT is usually offered as an incentive to book a cruise that is not selling well; for that reason, you are more likely to see GT rates in hurricane season or other unpopular times, and that also explains why this is not available for any sailings on the Wish, which is a brand new ship and hence Disney doesn't want to discount it.

2) GTY rates, also known as "guaranteed" (i.e., no mention of restrictions) is where you book a specific stateroom category (e.g. 7A; 8C), but Disney chooses the room for you within that category or better. That is where the similarities between GT and GTY end. GTY is subject to the "regular" cancellation penalty schedule, so can still be refundable before PIF, and can still be modified (e.g., you could modify your room to book a specific room in another category and you will no longer have the the "GTY" aspect, unlike GT, which can't be cancelled or changed). Importantly, GTY is not discounted: you will pay rack rates for whichever category you book. GTY is what happens when there are only a few rooms in a given category left. For this reason, this is something I would expect to see on many popular Disney Wish sailings, since the closer to fully booked a cruise is, the more GTY rooms it would have (until the categories fully sell out of course).

I hope DCL learns its lesson and puts more consideration and effort into ship design next time, with the overall guest experience in mind. Like Disney used to be famous for doing, back in the day...

Tbh I don't think they're even capable of it anymore. They've let their best imagineers go, and have different priorities now.
I'm very interested in what they will do with two more cruises in the docket. With two more ships expected to be released in 2025, I'm hoping they take this into consideration and make adjustments. However, since it seems they are in the same class, I'm wondering what they will be able to do.
