hey

Doing the western carribean cruise in Feb our second Disney cruise and in sept I did have wdw booked but changed it to a Disney cruise around the med.

It's for my 30th and just think it will be more relaxing just me and my partner than waiting in cues all day in wdw and did get a bit booked after our first Disney cruise last year

God knows if I have done the right thing but it worked out half the price at least :)

A cruise to the med sounds way better than wdw. We live a couple of hours from Disneyland, and havent been years. We used to like wdw, but I have no desire to go back. Once you start cruising its hard to take any other kind of vacation. There is so many different cruises to take. I love visiting new places.
Ive never gotten how people can go to wdw every year ...year after year, but a lot of people can and do. Enjoy your cruises.

Just back from the madhouse that is Disneyland. And it wasn't nearly as crazy as when we went last year. WDW is more of the same.

Cruising is best - one or two a year = no problem. Going to the parks every 3-4 years from here on out.

Everyone complains when Disney raises prices, but from what I have seen, they are not even close to hitting the right price yet for the parks. There are just way to many people for the experience to be "Magical". Thank goodness I get my Magic on the DCL ships.

I would choose the cruise every time over WDW. I do love WDW, but you simply don't get a chance to simply relax and enjoy life like on DCL. :flower:

After our first cruise in September, we fell in love with DCL. Before the end of the year, we will be gold castaway members. We went on one in January and leave Friday for another. DCL cruises are one of the best vacations you can take in my opinion. As others have mentioned, sure beats the lines at WDW.

Frickin A yes, you made the right decision! Don't give it a second thought. Congrats and enjoy.

Lol the only reason we are going to WDW after our cruise is because DBF never has been & to attend MNSSHP :ccat:

I just cancelled our WDW trip for another cruise as well.

I don't know how people can keep going on the same Bahamas and Caribbean cruises year after year! WDW changes with the seasons...the beaches don't! I have cut way back on my WDW trips and no longer have a WDW annual pass, but I would still like to go to some Disney park once a year - preferably in December.

If your putting in 40-50 hour weeks, and taking care of kids in your spare time a cruise is a very relaxing getaway. I wouldn't want to go the Caribbean every cruise, but it beats standing in line at a theme park.

I'd take a cruise over busy park days anytime. You made a great choice. Enjoy your birthday.

I am retired and don't take care of kids. I generally don't go on vacation to relax, but to do things. (Lounging by the pool or on the beach isn't my idea of fun!) I don't like theme park lines either, so I try to go at less busy times.

Good maybe when I retire I'll want to go back to WDW LOL. At this point what I love most about vacation is my alarm not going off at 430.

The cruises give me an excuse to disconnect from the rest of the world for at least a period of time. If I'm in the country I've got to be available for work but out of the country they don't expect me to pay $90 for Internet access so I use this time to totally unplug and it's absolutely the best time I can have. We leave for our third, 3 night Bahamas cruise on Friday on the Dream and we just started cruising in September. We love Disney and now we love cruising so what better than to have those 2 together. For me they're one of the best vacations I can take. I've drank the kool aid and Disney can have my money lol

So true. After we call our family to let them know we made it safely on board, we put our phones in the safe and don't take out until the last night to charge them up. I personally love being off the phone and computer. It really is just our family time and we love it!

It is funny, but we like both. We do go on bahamas/Caribbean cruises every year (usually multiple- this year 2, next year four-- got really great deals) and never get tired of the same ocean or ships. I could just stare out at the water all day or lay on the beach all day. It is true, when I was in my twenties I thought lying on the beach was the most boring thing in the world, but now I guess I am different. We want to do Alaska, but every time we are about to book it we flip to the Caribbean. That being said, we do love wdw and dl and also enjoy other vacations that include things like horseback riding and hiking etc. I also will never get tired of wdw and dl and think they are truly magical places (as commercial as they are) and in the end are a better way to experience Disney than their usually overpriced cruises (which I also love but think the prices do not usually represent value). In the OP's case, it looks like he lives in Europe, and the European cruise prices seem a bit deflated, so it makes sense to switch from wdw. But I personally would never do a Disney cruise in Europe, because after flights, the price is not worth it for us. We also lived in Europe for some time, so Europe is not exotic for us.
