This past Sunday I had to cancell our vacation for this Thursday October 3rd.

I have to say it has been a rough week and a half. My MIL's health declined rapidly and in a matter of weeks went from 6 months expected life, to two weeks, and then finally being told it would be a miracle if she made it through the weekend. She passed away peacefully Saturday night.

On Sunday, I called DVC and they were so awesome at restoring the points we had used and cancelling dining. I still need to call the Photopass people to find out what to do with the voucher we have for the Photopass +

I'm so sorry for your loss... :(

thankfully she passed in peace, but i know how much you & your family must be hurting right now

my condolences of all of you.

So sorry for your loss. How great that DVC-MS was so understanding about your last minute cancellation at this time of sadness.

If you are talking about a pre-paid Photopass+, I think it should still be good until you actually redeem it after a trip. I don't think there is an expiration date and I don't think it is attached to a specific resort reservation.

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Disney is very good at handling such sad times as these.

Thank you everyone for the condolences. We had the funeral today and it was a very beautiful service. The vacation was booked with my Mom's points. My family has 150, but next year my Mom will have 640 total points/960 if she borrows the following year so we will definetly have one big family vacation when we rebook. Just have to see when everyone has time off after everything settles down a bit.

Kidanifan08 thank you for the information. I still haven't gotten around to calling the photopass people. I am sure it will be good but just wanted to call and double check before I stored the voucher away in our vacation box. (I have a big plastic rubbermaid box where we keep all of our extra pins for trading, ponchos, and those funny hats we only wear at Disney). :)

I agree, Member Services rocks in these situations. I was driving down with an elderly couple. We were tired and stopped for the night before we were to check-in in Lake City, Florida, where I-10 and I-75 meet. The lady passed away in her sleep, so the morning we were supposed to check-in I had to cancel. Member Services was wonderful!
