Today I went to my AAA and cancelled our 7th DCL cruise on the Magic. Why? The cost is out of control. Seven days booked on board in November 2007 on deck 6 was over $3000.00 for two adults. We are going to rebook on an 11 day on Celebrity for $200.00 more.
We have only cruised on DCL and we have always been very satisfied and sing the praises of DCL. I understand that prices increase but this is just to high for seven days.

Gee, that's about $300 more than for Cash and I to do 7 days over the 2007 New Year timeframe. Of course, Cash is a dog and there's no charge for him...priorities, priorities...

I was trying to see if I read it right. I booked directly through Disney and paid $4900 for myself and my two little children for a category 6. Of course, we are going in February, so that ups the price quite a bit.

The prices do seem to be going up awfully quick. We have our 7th cruise booked for December. The kids are both in their teens and we are considering Royal Carribean for our next cruise. Unfortunately prices do go up but I know my raises at work cant keep up with gasoline, natural gas, electricity...DCL. Oh well I guess we will have to space them out more in the future.

We are paying over $3000 for two of us in a cat 6 for the Thanksgiving cruise this year....they jack the prices up for the holiday, but the $$$ is sooooo worth it so we can actually have a nice, stress free holiday for once! Can't make a habit of this high spending, but it will be a nice treat! I didn't think the prices outside of the holiday week were bad at all.

Do what you gotta do and sail for what you want! That is the good thing about the vacation industry....lots of options to choose from. One day we will be brave and try another cruiseline....we don't mind paying for DCL because we know our money will be spent well. But how did you book a cruise for Nov 2007 on DCL? Did they release the dates yet for that yet?

I feel the OP's pain and I totally agree BUT we tried RCI Mariner of the Seas last year and even with all the extras for my DD, we are cruising DCL again this year. It wasn't that the ship wasn't great, it was all the little touches that we missed. We also missed the daily breakfast/lunch menus changing in the dining rooms. They don't on RCI and there are just times a girl needs a quiet, relaxed breakfast/lunch without a buffet hassle We won't be able to cruise as much as we always have with the prices going up the way they have, but I think we will be sticking with DCL.
Good luckl, maybe without children to consider, and Celebrity being an upscale line, you with be totally happy with you decision.
I have a DF who has cruised every cruiseline out there and she loves DCL and HAL. HAL- Alaska for her family (2 children + 1 DH) was awesome she said. White glove treatment with all the ammenities and her children LOVED the kids programming. We will probably go with HAL when we cruise Alaska since her family and mine seem to be exactly alike in what we enjoy!

I think that you must mean November 2006 because the November 2007 cruises are not available for booking yet. What category is this for? The DCL prices have always been higher than most other cruise lines (except the luxery ones). Is your stateroom on Celebrity comparable in size to DCL? The higher categories are usually smaller than the DCL rooms. I know what you mean though, we are paying $6000 for our Cat. 10 for the three of us on the holiday cruise.

No, they cannot book late 2007 now. That is why I asked if that was for back to back wonder cruises.

I totally understand that once you do the higher or is it lower categories you become spoiled and can't imagine doing anything lower, but we've ONLY done Category 11 inside, and couldn't be happier. Yes, I would enjoy a view and the sunlight to wake me up, but if I want the view, I just get up and go out on the deck. For the few hours that we spend in the room, to me, it's just not worth the extra cash. The rooms are a nice size, especially for just 2 people. My God, our inside rooms on RCCL were about the size of the bed, and that was it. But once again, we didn't really care. Not there for the rooms. I'd rather spend my money on something else than a room. You still get all the amenities that the people who paid a higher price get on the ship, so IMHO I'll pay the lower cost.

I know what you mean...this may be our last DCL cruise as well. The cost is getting prohibitive.

We've also cruised NCL and RCCL and had a blast! We find our fun wherever we go. DCL is the be all and end all, all though it is a great time.

I'm paying over $4,000 for my DS (6) and myself the week after Easter for a Cat 6, 7 day Western. I booked later in the year, not when the prices first came out... and when I booked originally it was for the Easter sailing and it was almost $2K more than that!!!

I've been on one cruise... without DS and paid $2200 for two of us in a "similar" room with a verandah. It was a Carnival cruise (I know, don't flame me...) but I checked out the kids stuff and found it to be lacking for the younger ones. We ran into the Magic in Key West and I managed to find a few parents and we "compared". Hands down... DCL won for what I think my son will enjoy.

Then I found the cruise section of the DIS boards and now I'm sure of it!!!

I will save extra hard to afford Disney until my DS grows out of it.... but hey, that's just my humble opinion....

Veterans of several fine cruise lines (including NCL, RCCL, Princess), we have grown to regard Disney to be our favorite.

Our personal first experience on Celebrity last summer (in a concierge suite) was utterly miserable! The boys were quite content with the Celebrity Cadets youth programs. However, the pretentious attitudes, inept communication, woeful concierge service, and pathetic production shows aboard Millenium were anathema to cruise-savvy adults. Sadly, we were grateful to disembark.

I get vacationstogo and to get a room of comparable size on another line the prices are the same if not a little higher on another line. Yes I could cruise for less in a 90sq ft cabin. I agree that you don't spend any time in the cabin, but 184sq is the smallest I want, DCL spoiled I guess. I am going to Alaska on HAL, but I booked with points through DCL and spent the extra bucks to get a verandah and bigger room. Costing more than a DCL Cruise
