Cancelled the cake

I know I'm alone here, but I don't think the cake is all that cute: it's just okay. I salute your decision to cancel the order and spend the money elsewhere.

:thumbsup2

$70 for a 6 inch cake!!!! For that price it better transform me into Cinderella! ;) I would order a special dessert and then take a fireworks cruise or something. I hope you have a wonderful celebration.:cutie:

You were right to cancel. whether or not that cake would be worth it to some people, it's not to you, or you wouldn't be stressing about it. I think sometimes we cheap people can "out-cheap" ourselves!

You could spend half that on a fancy dessert at Kona Cafe--go there just for dessert, enjoy, then walk on the beach and enjoy the fireworks. Less expensive and super romantic! Probably more memorable, too.

Or, just find another special, memorable thing. Sorry, the cake looks cute, but doesn't look anywhere near worth $70 to me. Maybe to someone else.

the cute little castle cakes are 25.00 maybe you can get one of those. When I made my plans with the IPO office for my trip in dec they offered to send one to my dd2 for her birthday free of charge...it was sweet of them they are cute little cakes.

Well FIRST

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY in advance!:cake:

I hear you, don't we get caught up in things???
I surprised my DH this past April to a cruise for our family.(it was his fathers day gift LAST year for THIS April)......... and I HAD to have the cabin decorated, THEN HAD to have strawberrys delivered, THEN HAD to have wine and cheese delivered, THEN a gift pack for my son..........GOODNESS, we never ATE The strawberrys (and we could have gotten the cheese platter for FREE that same night thru room service!!, just NUTS)
But it was an AMAZING vacation (all his siblings came too, just FABULOUS) but I digress....

I would have a special dessert at your Anniv. meal and enjoy it knowing you "saved $70" and are making a memory enjoying each other and you're not "thinking" about the cost!
Have a WONDERFUL ANNIVERSARY and a lovely trip!!

Last year for DD's birthday her cake at our local bakery was 60.00 :scared1: .I guess I should have asked how much it would be when I ordered it.This cake was a two layer with buttercream.I don't remember the size but it was for 20 people.I did have them do a picture of tinkerbelle on it I guess that is why it was so expensive.Never again. This year I am going to make her cake and save 50.00.And the cake was not very good either.

Actually that's not a bad price. I know it's a bit of a sticker shock, but it's the going rate for bakery cakes. I decorate cakes on the side, so I deal with the pricing issues a lot. The going rate (depending where you live, of course) is anywhere from 2.50-4.50 per serving. So, your 20 serving cake would break down to $3.00 a serving.

OP, I would have cancelled too! You'll remember the dinner more than a lousy cake that you couldn't even finish!

wow that is a jump in price.. Im debating the same thing over some type of cake for ds on thanksgiving since its his bday. I just cannot stomach paying $50 and up for a cake that only 3 of us will eat. Im wondering if maybe they can do like a cupcake or such instead.. have a happy anniversary!!! Im sure you can find something else to celebrate will you are there!
