Cancelled Teppanyaki? Call back for VIP!!

I made lunch ADRs for LeCellier the same day as dinner at Teppanyaki in case it hadn't reopened in time.

Soooo.... I just called the number on the first page of the thread and a CM picked up right away and got us into LeCellier for dinner at 5:30ish with the fireworks seating!!!

I think the normal, part of a packege type of VIP seating is over near the boat dock. I think to accommodate all the people displace by Teppanyaki they've created a new, temporary area. I think they'll be roping off an area where Future World and WorldShowcase meet. I was told I'd be given passes or vouchers during dinner to be let behind the ropes.

The CM I talked to said that we needed to go to Epcot Guest Relations and get our tickets for the VIP section. They gave me a conf # for it and I am to give that # to Guest Relations. I wonder why some our saying that it is attached to their dining reservation.

. . . Is the VIP viewing for Illuminations that big of a deal? . . .

1) No, it is not.
2) They are putting most into the old Millennium Village.
3) It will be roped-off, but no actual "seating".
4) Some are being put into one of the four actual VIP (landing) areas.
5) Again, no seating, but the standee-view isn't bad at all.
6) Sounds more impressive than it is.

NOTE: This is creating a big mess for other eateries. They have used the override code for reservations and have simply put more people into the restaurants. I can't help but believe the waiting times for ADR tables has drastically increased. And, no, it is not a case of simpy "adding more tables" at the eateries, as many were already as crowded as possible.

The CM gave me a reservation # and told me that my tix would be there at LeCellier when we checked in. She also said the viewing area is between FW and WS.

Hi,

We too are booked for Japan on Oct 5th. No call yet but we made a backup ressie at Cape May (there are 9 of us). I have a crazy question. I love the VIP seating and think that it is awesome of Disney to do this for displaced diners. My question is do we have to use it on that night as we are all ready doing an illuminations cruise that night. We are there for 8 more days after that and wondered if the VIP seating was good for another day or should we mention this to the person when talking to them. I have no intentions of cancelling our cruise but hate to miss the special viewing if we could you it later in the week. What do you think.

Thanks,

Bug

Yes you can call back and say you don't plan to stay at EPCOTfor the fireworks that night and they will let you choose another night. But FYI its not "VIP seating"--just a roped off standing area/corral from what I was told. Given this is not even a busy time of year, finding some place to "stand" amongst the crowd is hardly an issue...:confused3 but it is nonetheless a nice gesture from Disney and seems to be making a lot of people seem special.:wizard:

I was told by the special CM rescheduling my ADR that my voucher for the VIP viewing of Illuminations would be given to me after my meal at Coral Reef.

DRC keeps track of all of your cancelled ADRs in addition to any that are "live". So, if you had a reservation, and cancelled before the VIP seating was offered, I'm sure there is still a record of it.

Don't be shy!
Ah, yes!! Thanks, Brian!!! I was able to change my own reservation to Chefs de France, then the friends I'm meeting were able to change theirs to an earlier time AND add me! So I'll be calling tomorrow to cancel yet one more reservation :teeth: and get to spend time with people I haven't seen in FIVE years (and who I really want to see, unlike some relatives I've been avoiding even longer than that ;))!!!! AND, yes, we have the VIP viewing!

That is strange I asked a few timea about going to guest relations and she kept saying yes just stop by guest realtions sometime during the day and pick up the passes.

Has anyone else been told to go to Guest Relations to pick up the VIP illumination tickets?

I was, but my friends were told - hold on a minute... we'd either get vouchers at the restaurant (makes sense) or if not, to just give our confirmation number at the viewing area.

I was told to go to guest services and give them the confirmation number. I would get badges from them.

Yup, that is what she told me too.

I would call that special number back and ask again! Good Luck!

We called this evening and changed our res. and received a confirmation number for the VIP passes. They also said that the passes would be at the restaurant waiting for us after our meal.

We were told to be at the World Showcase Pavillion at 8:30 and give the CM our names and ressie number (which they gave me over the phone) and then we would be escorted to the "VIP area"

That is what I was told too- either way, we have a confirmation #, so that would be a backup. The views probably wouldn't be better than if you were sitting for an hour before the fireworks to get your spot, but it is nice of Disney to give you that option.

Heck, I'm just glad that Disney made the choice for me- I was having some issues trying to decide if we really wanted Tep or to have that yummy soup at LeCelier!

Well all I can say is THANK GOODNESS for these boards ;-) I was briefed about the Teppanedo thing when I called to add more dining reservations but was told since I didn't receive a call that most likely I would be okay (9/26 for party of 5). Well after reading the boards I got a little paranoid  and called, I was transferred to the special line and was not offered any special alternatives, just what they had available. When I questioned why I wasn't informed of this he said they just found out a couple of days ago :confused3 so I just asked him what was available and told him I would get back to them after our family made a decision. As you can imagine it was just the restuarants that no one really fills anyway, but he did say after I told him that I read other people were getting VIP viewing that I could get that also and gave me a confirmation number. I guess it's who you speak with, some people are getting CM's that are bending over backwards, others are getting them who are probably sick of everyone asking for LeCellier, yeah I asked :guilty: . Well, if anyone has any suggestions as an alterative I would LOVE to hear them! We already have Coral Reef which would have been our 2nd choice immediately and unless we could get R&C outside (don't like the inside) which obviously cannot be guaranteed, we have no back up plan. So what about 9 Dragons, we haven't dined there in years, any good reviews lately?

Thanks!

Oh no, not nice at all. If we have/had ressies for Edo on 10/19 should I call myself or wait for DD to call me???
I think the answer will be to call myself but just making sure.
Thanks

Definitely call now and you can be one of the 1st hopefully to pick off the available list for your date. If you wait, anyone they call before you for that date will get 1st crack at it, and what if you aren't home to take the call? That happened to me and forget about all of the happy stories you have heard about Le Cellier--I was left with 2 split tables at San Angel.....call now!!

Yes I would definitely call. We just got our call back tonight and chose Chef De France, hope it's good, we decided to go with something different.

They said to give the server our confirmation number for our VIP badges, this should be fun, I'm bummed about Teppan Edo but excited to try something new.
