Cancelled rooms not back in discount pool?

I called tonight to see if an AP rate had come available with everyone cancelling for new rates. The CM told me that once a room is booked on a code - if it is cancelled it then goes back in the rack rate pool and not the discount pool. Does anyone know if this is true? She said that if the AP rates were gone - I was out of luck but the CM last week told me to keep checking.

Yeah...I'm doing the same thing. I actually want to book Dec. 30 and 31 for our Jan. 1-5 trip at the Pop. Nothing was available for the Dec dates previously but I am hoping someone decided to move their New Years trip to a later date b/c of the deal and I can get those cancelled dates. I know I won't get the AP rate on those two nights but that's ok.

From what I understand, the best time to call would be first thing in the morning (7am EST) when they reset the computers for the new day and all the ressies update. Good luck!

I've been told the same thing for both AP and AAA room rates. That once they're taken, they dont go back into the "pool" if cancelled. Dont know if it's true or not...

It would make sense that it is true. However, I do think as the number of rooms fluctuates in the "rack rate pool" they may distribute more rooms to the various "discount pools". I have often seen AAA rates become available where they weren't previously.
