Had reservations for our 1st two nights at POR at $127. Called to check if they had coupon codes for some of the deluxes and Wilderness Lodge came up at $222 (both include tax). I reserved WL and now having second thoughts.

Is WL worth $100 more per night? I do like the idea of a larger room and a balcony but my practical side is taking over. Family of 4 - 2 DD's - 13 & 16.

Thanks for any advice
:D

If you can afford it (which it seems you decided you can) then YES!!! The WL is wonderful. POR is the best moderate IMHO, but the WL is just a step above. The theming is great, grounds are gorgeous, proximity to the MK..................it is a wonderful resort and you will love it. Would have been nice if you could have scored more of a discount rate for the WL................don't give up and if you find a lower rate you can always change your WL reservation.

I did the same thing, and I'm still second guessing it:) We stayed at the WL last Jan. and loved it. I have a reservation for 4 nights at the end of Jan. and I don't know what I want to do. We get in late the first night and we will be at the parks all day Thurs and Sat. That just leaves one day to enjoy the resort:confused: I have a woods view so it will cost me an extra $200 to stay at the WL.
Having said all that I will probably stick with our reservation because my youngest is turning 3 on our trip and we will be considered a family of 5, which means the WL won't be a place we will be able to stay at in the future unless we get two rooms or a suite.
When we stayed at the WL last yr it was our first visit at WDW we didn't stay at Poly and I was really disappointed at first. Well the weather was cold and it was so nice to be in one lodge and have a hot tub.
I have a Woods View and I am going to keep checking for availabilty for a standard room. It will save me $80.

We also, looked into rates for the POR and WL.
Florida Resident peak period in late March.
The difference was about $90.
We chose to go with the WL for several reasons.

First, the bed sizes - Queens are much more comfortable than Doubles. Room sizes are bigger, also. (We are a family of 5 - 2 boys, 9 and 5, I girl, 3. I think your two teens will appreciate the larger bed and room ... Better bathroom arrangement, too.)
Second, location - Boat to MK, bus then monorail to Epcot (We always go to MGM the same day and take the boats from the International Gateway) - Still have to take a bus to Downtown Disney rather than the boat at WL, but AK is only a bus ride for both. We felt the location was a big deciding factor.
Third - I have heard awesome things about the WL and can't wait to stay there - I am dying to eat at Whispering Canyon and see the geyser. Maybe even get a room with a view of the MK fireworks!

All in all, I think the WL is worth the extra $.

Haven't stayed at POR, but I can tell you, we LOVED LOVED LOVED our WL stay!!

It's nice being so close to MK. Loved the accessability to other resorts/resturants, no bus changing! It is so easy to get to CR & FW (boat runs WL/CR/FW). You can also take the TTC bus if you want to go to the Poly for dinner.

You are going to LOVE the Wilderness Lodge. Did you book a woods or water view? If woods, make sure to ask for #5032. This is the room I had and it was amazing!! You can see pics of the room & the view on the link below. If you booked a water, you may want to call and see if you can get a woods view. Little cheaper. This is a great resort!!! There is boat launches to both the Magic Kingdom & Contemporary and bus service to everywhere else.

We have stayed at both and definitely prefer WL over POR...NO COMPARISON! I like having more options to eat at WL, the easy transport to MK, inside corridors and the beautiful theming of the resort!
