Because of the cancellation policies of DVC, very often people are sorry that they have made plans for other people on their points. I understand that, but that has never stopped me from doing it.

In light of the recent airport security, do you think I should just send out a message to my family and say, hey, I perfectly understand if you want to cancel. Or should I just wait and see what happens.

Is anyone here reconsidering an upcoming WDW trip??

Bobbi

PS. We've not travelled with 3 small children, all under 4 before. We are going to be helping, so there will be 4 adults and 3 children, but I am thinking about lines etc. not only the actual dangers of the flight. It seemed easier before when we could plan on electronic things in carry on.

I would wait to see what happens. Everything is temporary and this shouldn't stop people from living, vacationing and enjoying life.

You are right, of course. I need to take a deep breath. Thank you.

Bobbi :)

Bobbi, I would wait and see. Things should cool down with the airlines over the next week. I'm sure everyone in your family has been looking forward to this event. This is exactly the psychological effect the terrorists want to cause. You all are going to have a WONDERFUL vacation, I promise. :wizard:

I'm flying to WDW tomorrow with my two kids. I'm a bit more anxious today but we're not cancelling.

I did confirm with Southwest that we will be able to bring a portable DVD player on as a carryon item. It will help pass the time. We're flying from Chicago to Orlando.

Good luck with the decision you make for your family.

Don't take any measures right now. Let those people make their own decisions. I went to WDW 9/18/01. The airport security was tough, but not impossible. Unfortunately, this is the world in which we now live.

We flew into Newark in October that year for a wedding in Hamilton, NJ.

Newark was where at least one 9/11 plane flew out of. Hamilton was one of the "anthrax post offices."

Live your life. You still have a much greater chance of dying in a car accident.

We leave in exactly one week and it is the first time in 5 yrs that my husband and I are getting away by ourselves. There is no way I would cancel! I think you should go ahead with your plans - don't let any terrorist decide what you do and where you go! Have a great trip and remember there is no better place than Disney!!! :thumbsup2

Bobbi,

I hope you have a great time and no one cancels. It certainly isn't every day that 4 generations of any family are able to get together and the memories of that special time should outweigh any negative memories of long security lines and/or bad flights.

We are constantly reminded that life is precious and we must enjoy every day.

I think everyone (else) who has an October trip planned should definitely cancel ;) More F&W for ME!

Seriously, there's no way I'd let this get in the way of our travel plans.

Just my $.02

Just so everyone is aware on the www.tsa.gov it said that electronics are still allowed.

Yes, my DH called to tell me that. I wasn't going to out right "cancel" I was just wondering if I should tell them that I would understand if THEY wanted to cancel.

Bobbi

Going to F&W in October with no plans of cancelling. However, DD wants to spend 3 weeks in London in January!!!

On your return trip back home going thru Orlando airport, I think I would allow a little more time than usual. That security area always seems the busiest and now with extra precautions being taken..... I can only imagine the lines there now.

Have a great trip :sunny:
