Cancellation question

I’m sorry for the repeat question. I can’t find where I read this before but needed to verify. My original PIF date was tomorrow for my August 10th Cruise and has now been changed to June 11th. I called Disney yesterday to make sure I still had until June 11th to cancel without any penalty and was told that was correct. I just wanted to make sure since I can’t find anything in writing that is the case. I actually paid the cruise in full and don’t want to lose any money but would like more time. Thanks I’m advance.

I was worried about that, too! My TA is Costco and I called to confirm and they were like “yeah, I’m pretty sure you can cancel with no penalty even after you paid in full as long as you do it before the new paid in full date.” And I didn’t like the words “pretty sure” so I asked them to call DCL, which they did and then returned to the line to say its a definite yes.

Last week, we paid in full but the deadline isn’t till this week. I called today and moved my cruise forward to next year and was not assessed a penalty. So I believe the info I was given was correct.

Also, the other day I found this online, which is more clear to me that it’s ok.

One tip, though... you might want to consider moving your cruise instead of canceling it.

I’ve read here that if you move a cruise from a date that ends up getting canceled on by Disney, you *might* be (retroactively) offered the extra 25% they’re giving people who got canceled and/or you might be given back any placeholder benefits you lost (if that happened to you) by moving your cruise forward.

At least some people are reporting here that one or both of things things has happened for them. Nothing is for certain so I wouldn’t plan on it but if you have the same reservation number you at least have the chance of it, whereas if you cancel, you wouldn’t be eligible for it.

Thank you so much. I was willing to wait it out as I have a DVC stay before and after the cruise. But my sister who will be cruising with me lives in New York and has been working from home. She is unsure if she will be able to go if her job stills has her working firm home and if non essential travel is still in play with her company. She also doesn’t think she wants to be on the first cruise to start sailing so wanted more time to see what happens.

Just saw your second post. I would probably move the cruise to next August. I do have a placeholder and didn’t want to lose those benefits. Just wanted a little extra time as we were really looking forward to this cruise. Thanks again.

You’re welcome. We also had a placeholder and it expires this Dec. They were not applied to my moved cruise when I call today and I totally accept that’s just one of the crummy things about this pandemic. (Many people are dealing with much worse!) But if they do happen to apply those benefits retroactively, I’ll be very grateful. I don’t really feel I would deserve the extra 25% because I chose not to wait it out but I wouldn’t argue if they offered it. :-)
