Cancellation Policy

Does anyone know the cancellation policy on vacations purchased on the website? We booked a package (room, tix, car rental) for December, but are thinking of changing our plans. I'm sure this info is on my printouts at home, but I'm at work right now. Any idea? Our trip starts 12/18/04.

Hi Tina,

We had a room booked at Port Orleans French Quarter in WDW for mid-November, which we book through the Disney website. We also changed our plans, called them up to cancel, and had no problems. The lady I spoke with said our credit card will be credited for the amount of the deposit.

If you are going to cancel, do it as soon as possible just to be sure you get a full refund, but I would definately do it over the phone. You always feel better about something like this when done with a real person rather than a computer screen - right?

By the way, we cancelled our room at WDW because we're going to DL instead! Three weeks left before we go!

Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems with a cancellation. Just do it as soon as possible. Good luck and we'll miss you at the Happiest Place on Earth!

LOL Disney-Super-Mom! We are thinking of cancelling DL to go to WDW instead!! Either way, we'll get our Disney fix, but we're really in the mood for full-on WDW rather than DL (which we did last year at the same time). I think its because we're both jazzed about saving up to join DVC. We just want to get back to the WORLD. We'll lose out on the airfare, but I figure we'll just pay the change fee and use them for Las Vegas later in the Spring. Or maybe Disneyland!!

Hi again,

Hope you have a super time at WDW! We'll be going there for the first time in the next year or so. We're waiting until our 17 month old son is a little older and able to entertain himself better on the long flight to Orlando (we live in Washington State).

If you have the time, could I get your opinion on WDW resorts? I see you've been to WDW several times and you have stayed at many of the WDW resorts. Which resorts do you recommend (like the best) and why? We would stay at a moderate or luxury resort (the value resorts look cool, but I have a feeling that there are a million kids there, and we like a little reprive from the noise when we go back to our room). We have two kids, but they're both fairly laid back.

Anyway, we like a nice view, good location, and a great pool with a slide for the kids. That's why I had booked a room at Port Orleans French Quarter.

It's always nice though to get the opinion of someone with lots of experience and expertise.

POFQ is nice. We've stayed there twice. We like the fact that its small (quaint) in comparison to the rest of the moderates. The pool is also small, though, and can get quite crowded. PO Riverside is right next door and has more swimming options if you don't mind walking (or taking a short boat ride). POFQ was recently refurbished and we were pleased with the results. As for a view, you won't have much of one. We've never upgraded to a water view since its just a small river that runs behind the resort. Also, since its a moderate, there is no balcony to sit and enjoy that view - so we go with the standard here.

If you want to splurge a little and upgrade to a deluxe, I would recommend the Yacht or Beach Club. The pool shared by these 2 resorts borders on being a water park. Its just completely awesome. As for location, you can't beat a short walk (or water launch) to the rear entrance to EPCOT (especially when returning 'home' in the evening). The Boardwalk area is also just across the lake (walk or take a boat). This is really my favorite area. There are tons of restaurants at your disposal in this resort area with EPCOT's World Showcase, The Boardwalk, and Swan & Dolphin Resorts - all within walking distance. As for the view, if you get a water view facing the lake, you'll look out at the Boardwalk area and possibly even see Illuminations from your balcony. This area is a favorite to many for good reason.

Hey, thanks Tina!

I definatley will keep the boardwalk area in mind when we do make our first trip to WDW. It sounds terrific, but of course from your description, the Port Orleans French Quarter still sounds nice for a moderate resort. I guess it'll come down to whatever our vacation budget is when we make the trip.
