Cancellation policy?

Darn it! Two days ago I booked our first ABD trip, Arizona and Utah for April, 2017. My husband just reminded me about a potential scheduling conflict. Bottom line is that we won't know until at least August whether or not we can go on these dates, and if we don't go then, we probably couldn't go until 2018. I know I only have 14 days from booking to cancel without losing my deposit. I hate to cancel because I wanted to take advantage of the early booking rates, which would save us $1600. If I keep the booking and then need to switch to another date or another trip, will they let me apply the current deposit to a 2018 trip? Thanks.

Yes, they'll let you apply the deposit to 2018...as long as it's cancelled before final payment day.

I have yet to face this issue with any of my guests / clients who need to cancel their adventure and move to another, but there is a clause that states that if this affects the viability of the original Adventure booked that this may not be allowed.

I dont me to be a downer, but you need to have the facts.

This doesn't happen often. As I said, I've never had it happen to a client.

Thanks for all the input. I am still hopeful that we can go next April, but I won't know for sure for a few more months, certainly well before final payment is due. What would most of you advise? Keep the reservation with the $1600 early booking discount or cancel within the 14 days of booking with no penalty and re-book at the higher rate once we know for certain if we can go? We are DVC members which I believe means we get the lead rates protected, but i believe we would still lose early booking.

If you have to cancel and move your dates, you will be responsible for the prevailing rate.

Being DVC guarantees the lowest rate.

Nothing guarantees the early booking discount other than keeping and traveling on your currently booked Adventure.

Just wanted to follow up that I spoke with a Vacationista at ABD and was told I could move my deposit to another trip with no problem anytime before final payment. I could even use it towards a 2018 trip if needed. Since i will certainly know whether or not we have a conflict before final payment, I cam going to keep my current reservation with the early booking rate. Fingers crossed we will be able to go as scheduled. Thought this info might be helpful for others to know.
