I cancel my reservations constantly since the rates change.
With the new National Website, I noticed a little line that says cancellation fees may apply.

Does anyone know anything about this?
thanks

They can and sometimes will assess a cancellation fee IF you are a no show.

Ok, so I get that they may apply a fee for a reservation if I don't show up. But this doesn't mean that they will assess a fee just for cancelling the reservation, right?

Everytime i cancel a reservation this cancellation fee line pops up and I just wanted to make sure that I won't get assessed a fee just for cancelling.

thanks

If you cancel more that 24 hours out, they should not charge a fee, but when you cancel it make sure you print out the cancelation notice that they send to you. One time I canceled and they charged me one day, When I pulled out the cancelation and sent it to them they refunded my charge.

I cancelled 4 or 5 reservations for May when the price went down and it was no problem (all way in advance).

we have had a couple of no shows this year,

but when i called and asked them what happened

they just said the reservations dropped off after 12 hours and we HAVE never been charged ( they did say if your flight had been delayed it is a good idea to call reservations to give them a heads up )

thus, everyone's mileage may vary, there does not seem to be a hard and fast policy regarding charges for NO Shows

it also might relate to your tier level

looked all over their site today looking for the policy but did not seem to find it

however, did find if you are EC member they now have a section called My Itineraries which shows all your active reservations with National, which should make it easier if you book again but do not cancel when they have a rate drop

I often cancel and rebook when rates drop. I noticed the note about cancellation fees. Beings that it is a new system for National, I am going to check for cancelation fees and dispute anything they charge. Mistakes on a new system are common. The funny thing is that I tried to research National's policy to find out the details of cancelation charges and couldn't find anything on the site.
