cancellation deadline?

Is the deadline to cancel ADRs 24 hours or just by midnight the day before?

(I realize some events require more than one day.)

On the WDW website, it states that you can cancel by 11:59 pm on the day before your arrival. Does that mean the day before you arrive at WDW to begin your vacation or the day before your reservation. If I get to Disney on Sunday and on Wed decide I don't want to use my dinner reservations the next day, can I cancel Wed night or should I have cancelled Saturday night?

Also, in your experience, do most of the restaurants actually charge the fee for cancellations, whether it was done before or after 11:59 pm?

Nevermind, I did some research and found the cancellation policy is for the night before the meal reservation not before you arrive at WDW.
