This will be our third trip but our first time to book before the 45 day mark. We are planning a trip for September but there is a slight chance that we might have change the dates or even cancel the trip. As I have always had to pay in full when I booked before, I have no clue about changing or cancellation fees. Could anyone please tell me what are the fees and when are the cut off dates?
Thanks.

You pay a deposit if you're more than 45 days out as well as paying air as soon as you book. You pay the rest of the package in full at 45 days. You can make changes prior to that with no fee. You can completely cancel and the 200 is refunded.

After 45 days you can change dates if available for 50 dollars. You can downgrade your vacation (somehow make it cheaper) for 100 dollars, you can upgrade it (make it more expensive) for 50 dollars.

I don't know what the entire cancellation fee would be after 45 days. You lose 100 percent of air though. Your air won't be changeable at all immediately anyways since you pay it all up front and thats really the airlines, not disney.

If you book room only and buy tickets seperately there´s no cancellation fee, unless you cancel with less than 5 days notice, then there´s a 1 night cancellation fee, if I remember correctly.

Also if you book travel insurance, that is non-refundable. It cannot be carried over to the re-booked trip, as the insurance will only cover the dates it was booked and paid under.

can the insurance be added after the fact? I am planning on booking but our flights won't be available til summer so i am not sure if i might need to change the dates etc. How does it work if i want to add the insurance once our flights are booked? OR will i be out of luck?

Not through disney, you can only add within one day I think. You can get third party though.

I would contact Disney directly about this, because I'm not sure what they would do with a date change due to the promotion. The resort would have to still have those dates available under that promo, plus I know the promo is only valid until mid June, so not sure if they could still offer you the free dining promo if your dates are changed?:confused3

A lot of wrong info in here. Air is nonrefundable of course. If you cancel within 5 days of arrival its $200. 6-44 days out is $100. If you change the package within 45 days and its more expensive they waive the $50 change fee. If the package price goes down within 45 days its $50. ANY change within 14 days is also a $10 processing fee.

You can add insurance up until final payment is made. You can also change your air but the airline will usually charge a change fee of $100 per ticket

I got my trip insurance through Disney within 14 days & they let me add it. The told me as long as it is on there before the 45 day mark you are okay. Just passing on what CM told me but I have added it on within the 14 day mark & was okay doing so.:)

Here is the fine print from my package reservation:

Cancellation and Change Fees Prior to Guest Arrival
No refunds will be given to no shows.
Cancellation of Reservation - If the reservation is cancelled, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers; provided, however, that for a cancellation of a Grand Gathering experience add-on option made 5 days or less prior to the experience date, no refund will be given.
Guest will be responsible for any cancellation fees assessed by an airline. In the case of a non-refundable airline ticket, the cancellation fee is equal to the entire ticket price. Cancellation of a refundable airline ticket must be made at least 1 business day prior to guest departure. Vacation insurance is nonrefundable if not canceled within 14 days after booking reservation. For reservations made 14 days or less prior to guest arrival, vacation insurance is nonrefundable if not canceled at least one day prior to guest arrival.
Changes to Reservation - For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.

Actually that is not true. DH and I have booked our August trip for 5 yrs now. But we had to change dates every yr. Every single penny that AAA already got from us, got transfered over to the new dates, and our trip isnt fully paid for yet. The trip insurance was also carried over to the new dates as well. We never had to repay for trip insurance or pay another $200 deposit. All it took was a change of dates each year and everything was transfered over to the new dates each time. Of course we always changed our dates MONTHS in advance. Never even came close to the 45 days mark when we changed our dates each time.

Not entirely true.I made a pkg ressie with trip insurance and tried to change within 3 wks of making it and well before my 45 day mark and lost the trip insurance. The AAA TA said if you chg the pkg dates for any reason after 14 days of making the ressie, the insurance is forfeit and needs to be re-purchased.I also confirmed this with Disney CRO.

Well I dont know what to tell you, but Ive looked at our conformation thing from AAA a million times and looking at it right now as Im typing it and it bluntly states on there Disney Trip Insurance. We were never charged extra for the past 4 yrs. If I have to, I will even scan the thing and show it to you.

To confirm Im right, I went to disneyworld.com and did room only ressie for our dates for AKL Savannah view, subtracted the 15% AAA discount from that total, then added in tickets and trip insurance and it comes out to the same amount thats on my AAA conformation.

So we never did loose money from the deposit and trip insurance. Like I said, I dont know what to tell you. All I know is that each time we changed dates, my AAA TA told me that everything is being transfered to the new dates. All payments and all room, insurance and ticket info except for the dates of course.

Then you must have had a better AAA TA then I, and I will be calling for my refund of the $132 I got dinged because I changed my dates. Thanks again.

Yes do call and see about getting that refund. Now if you had actually cancelled and then rebooked your trip, THEN, I can see why people would have to repay the trip insurance. But to change dates, you shouldnt have gotten charged. I just looked at the AAA Disney book and it just stated about trip insurance if you cancelled. Not if you make any changes. Perhaps maybe your AAA TA cancelled the trip and restarted you over all over again instead of just changing the dates.

The policy is the insurance is for the dates of original travel. If the insurance is on for more then 14 days and you change dates completely it is NON refundable. That is Disney policy.
