We have a trip in early October, given that the last cancelation notice we have right now is late September (for the wonder), either they're going to cancel OR we're going to end up a test case. The first feels inevitable and the latter feels well, bad.

So, I know we couldn't have done this with concierge BEFORE Co-Vid, but I heard about a new cancelation policy? Can I go ahead and cancel this and move the money down the road split between 2 cruises? We booked this when they cancelled our Sept trip last year. Or at least a month or so before they canceled it when the writing was on the wall.

If you want to book another cruise, you should be able to move your cruise to the new date without cancelling it. Historically, this has been possible even for concierge, although the concierge cancellation policies will continue to apply even if the new cruise is not concierge.

However, if you are paid in full, I am not sure whether you can split the money between 2 new cruises.

While I dont have an exact answer for you on this... I did find this on the DCL website:

"For sailings through November 30, 2021, the cancellation fee schedule has been temporarily relaxed... For Guests booked in Suite and Concierge categories, cancellation fees in excess of the deposit amount will temporarily begin at 59 days prior to sailing. "

So if you are more than 59 days out, you can cancel and only lose the initial deposit. The website does not have direct answers on the transfer of cruises. When we book concierge, we can always push the booking to a later date as long as we haven't PIF yet. However, we have never tried to change it from concierge to non concierge. I believe if you changed it to a non concierge room the initial deposit would still be lost.

You can't split a concierge reservation. I'm dealing with that right now - the reservation number is the reservation number. We're planning to downgrade and get 2 rooms. But for the 2 people in the second room - we are "cancelling" their original reservation and losing the deposit - we couldn't just turn one reservation number into 2. Also, the first reservation still has all the concierge rules even though it isn't. That being said, the extra money will be refunded.

So you could - downgrade your concierge reservation (for cruise 1 - still has all the concierge rules) and take the refunded money for cruise 2 (completely new cruise with regular rules).

I *think* that is how it would work.

Disney's Cruise Flexibility Policy allows you to change your pre-November 30th cruise up until 15 days before departure without penalty. I very much doubt DCL would let you cancel & split the money between two cruises, but you could ask. It might be possible if one cruise is paid in full with the money and you put the leftover on another cruise, but I don't know. I believe you can do that with an FCC if Disney cancels. Which ship do you have booked for October? If it's the Wonder, it has about a 99% chance of being cancelled by Disney, as few people think they're going to do very expensive deadhead cruises back & forth through the Panama Canal just to accommodate about a month of cheap low-season Mexican cruises. In that case, you'd be well advised to just wait for your cancellation letter, and apply the FCC. If you aren't booked on the Wonder, I recommend calling Disney for clarification. Speak to a supervisor if the initial phone rep can't answer your questions in full.

For a cruise that takes place before November 30th, any cruiser including concierge can transfer to another cruise (concierge or not) with no penalty, up until 15 days before sail date.

For cruises with any sail date, before PIF, any cruiser can change the booking to another sailing (concierge or not) without penalty. You don't lose a deposit before the PIF date, regardless of the category of the new sail date. The deposit will still be non-refundable for the new sail date, that is the only special stipulation for concierge.

Not the exact same situation, but I figured more information is better than none, right?
We had an original cruise PIF in 2020 with an OBB. Obviously it was cancelled (lol) and we got the FCC.
So we moved the original reservation and OBB to a cruise for this year, but we had A LOT of credit left, so we used the remaining credit and FCC for another cruise and made it a B2B. This was also cancelled.
So we moved the reservation and OBB to a cruise for next year. We had some credit left, but not a crazy amount, so we planned to just let them add it as an onboard credit.
Fast forward to last week and the new itineraries... lol we decided to move the cruise AGAIN to a better itinerary. (back to a B2B) I wasn't sure that they would let us, especially since they have published that the FCC and OBB carryover expires on 9/30/22. But we were able to get in under the wire! We didn't have a problem. Worth noting, unless they change it soon, you have to complete your cruise by 9/30/22 to take advantage of the FCC and OBB extended dates.
*we are not concierge though sooooo don't know if the rules are different there
