Canceling SW visa and keeping points?

Hi. My SW visa is up for the annual fee I haven't used the points yet. I spoke with a rep who said if I cancel the visa I can keep my points 2 years or longer if I book a flight or something else through one of their partners on the site. Has anyone else done this?

The points are now yours so they will not be taken away by cancelling the card. SW Rapid Reward points expire after 24 months of no account activity. So, as long as you earn additional points or spend points at least once in a 24 month period you points will not expire.
