I have reservations for a package and paid my deposit. What if I want to rent points from a DVC member and want to cancel my room reservations? Our package includes the dining plan. Would we still be able to get that?

Yes you can still get the dining plan. If you rent points, advise the DVC member you are renting from that you want to add the plan. You can pay for the plan upon checkin.

We are doing the same thing

When are you going? Do you already have the DVC reservation rented? If not, keep your reservation until you get that DVC one because it might not happen. When are you going?

The member you rent the reservation from will have to contact Member Services to let them know you want to purchase the dining plan. You will pay for it when you check in. You will not be able to contact Member Services yourself and that includes getting a phone confirmation for the reservation. Renting a reservation from a member requires a lot of trust by both the member and non-member.

Trust is important for both the rental and the dining plan addition. If the person you rent from forgets to add the dining plan, it can be a bit tricky trying to get the CM to add it to your plan.

Yes you can add the dining plan. Ask for a copy of your paper confirmation and add the dining plann portion into your contract and you should be fine.

As some one mentioned it is not always easy to get DVC ressies unless it is 11 months in advance so I say get an agreement with a renter before cancelling.

Our reservations are October 26-31. Would we get our deposit back if we do cancel our reservations?

Yes, you will get your deposit back. I think the cancellation policy is 45 days.

With these dates, as stated above, do not cancel your resort reservation until you have a confirmed DVC reservation. This time of year might be difficult for you to get something.

I totally agree with this one. This is a very popular time with DVC members and if you don't already have a reservation, you might not get one. And the Epcot resorts are already booked up solid.

Yes they are...I am on the wait list for BCV...like that is going to happen during F&W:rotfl: Well there is always wishful thinking.

I tried to get WL back in March for my June Trip and they were completely booked

Do you think it would be difficult to rent a 2 BDR at WL?

Yes it might be difficult....WL is a smaller DVC resort. You might be able to get it, but I would go into renting thinking you would most likely get SSR or OKW and if you happen to get WL, yipee!! If you go into it thinking SSR or OKW, you wont be disappointed.

You won't get VWL for October. With the Halloween parties going on at the MK, lots of families with younger kids like to stay at VWL so they can go to the MK more easily. The only resorts you might have any shot at getting would be SSR and OKW and even those are not guaranteed. I tried getting a two bedroom at SSR in May for October once (and it wasn't Halloween time) and our waitlist never came through. We already had a one bedroom reserved, but we just wanted a little more room.

If you want to try to rent a reservation from a member, you really need to start looking at least a year ahead of the time you want to go.
