So, went to Disney this past weekend and signed up for 160 pts at BLT with $500 down. When I got home, I decided that resale made more sense. I have tried calling my agent/tour guide to let her know I wanted to back out, but she hasn't returned my call. Should I send documents back with a letter asking to back out and for my refund? I haven't signed anything and still within 10 days of tour. Have others gone through this?

I would give Quality Assurance a call (number should be in the paperwork) and let them know you have changed your mind. I believe that you have to then send something in writing (or via fax) as well but they should be able to help.

I would also mention that you have attempted to contact the guide but had not yet heard anything and wanted to get your refund processed.

There should be recision information in the packet of documents you received. You may be requried to notify DVC in writing.

Be sure you follow the instructions. Your right to rescind and get your deposit back are provisions of Florida Law, but you have to do it the right way. I'm sure you won't have any difficulty with DVC at all, provided you do your part.

I would not wait for a return call. If the DVC timeshare salesman knows you are thinking about canceling, he may not call you at all.

If you are required to send back any kind of statement or a form included in your packet, make sure that you send it insured, signature required and get proof of delivery. keep all of the recipets, including the proof of delivery in the packet with any signed documents that you have. The post office can help you with these. Make sure you have someone there (DVC) sign for the letter.. and keep a copy of the recision for yourself too!:hippie:

AJ, you definitely have a right to recession in any timeshare purchase, including DVC. Curious that your guide is avoiding your call. Keep in mind that they often work x days on and then have so many days off, so perhaps you tried to reach her when she was out. Defintely try quality assurance as was suggested by Sandi. That number should be in your packet. Good luck and if you need a referral for a resale agent, we have used DVC by Resale several times with much success. -Chris

Thanks everyone. Found specific QA number and specific instructions in the document. They do accept fax. Thanks

You must follow exactly what it written in your paperwork. The one thing you may find is that it may take several weeks to credit your credit card the initial down payment. Just followup with the credit card company to confirm the credit.

Just remember to document and provide verification of transmission of ALL your transactions.

remember the salesman are real estate licensed and commission based....so they deserve the proper amount of trust.

Which is to say...none. As they proved quite convincingly over the last ten-twenty years

Faxed letter and got a call from QA within minutes. Have noted my cancellation and money will be refunded in 3 days. Thanks everyone
