Canceling one person on the DxDP?

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the dining plan forum or the resort forum, I'm just hoping someone can answer my question.

I booked a room only reservation, but took advantage of the deal for military families to be able to book room only with a dining plan. I set up the dining plan for three people, myself, my daughter, and my husband. Due to a military deployment, my husband will not be able to join us on our Disney trip. Is it going to be possible for me to just cancel the dining plan for him without screwing up our whole reservation? And will they refund the cost of his dining plan back to me?

Disney requires that every person on the reservation have the same entitlements. Whatever option for tickets you purchase, you will be required to buy that for all guests in the party. Each guest on the reservation will be required to have the dining plan for the entire stay...meaning, if you have it for one person, you must have it for all.

Oh, I also should have commented that if your husband is not there, technically, you do not qualify for the military discount. :( At least that is the way I have always understood the military discount.

Actually, with a valid active duty dependant ID, yes, we do qualify.

That is great. :) I have never personally booked with this kind of discount so have not personal experience in this area.

But, I do know that the part about the DDP is correct. ;)

Ok, great. So can anyone answer my question? Can you just cancel one person off of a dining plan, because they are not going with you, or do you have to cancel and redo your entire reservation?

Yes, you can drop him from the reservation. (If you are within 45 days of the trip, you may be charged to downgrade your reservation though)

The only thing I think might be a problem is if he is the primary guest name on the reservation. Ask if they can replace his name with yours if he is.

Thank you very much! My name is the primary on the res, and I am at about 50 days, so I should be all good. Thanks again!

I am sorry, I thought I was clear in my initial response. :upsidedow Yes, you can cancel him off and just not pay for him (or be refunded).

and I am sorry your husband will not be able to go to WDW with you, what a disappointment. I thank your husband for his service and you for your sacrifices.
