Canceling Dining Plan and CRT...what happens?

We originally had added the basic DDP to our DVC reservation, and then when I made our ADRs in January, I used the resort confirmation number and linked all our ADRs with our resort stay (for the 180 + 10 advantage of booking). I was ready to pay for the CRT dinner up front and then get reimbursed when we go there. However, instead of charging me, since my resort reservation had the DDP on it, they only took a credit card hold, the same as they did for Akershus.

Now, we are planning to cancel the DDP. We will upgrade my ticket to an AP and purchase the TIW card (works out better for us than DDP). When I cancel the DDP, what will happen with my CRT reservation? Will we still just pay when we arrive at the restaurant? Will they then charge my credit card and then adjust the price with the 20% TIW discount when we get there? Or, my worst fear, will they cancel our ADR altogether? :confused3

I can't upgrade to the AP until we get to WDW because we bought our tickets from Undercover Tourist and I have them already, since last summer. So when I check into BWV, I will walk over to the International Gateway of Epcot and upgrade my ticket to an AP. Therefore, I cannot purchase the TIW card until I get to WDW (I'm not a Florida resident so I won't be eligible for the TIW card until I have an AP). What should I do?

I believe since you have a credit card hold on CRT the reservation will stand and you will just pay for it when you arrive. BUT if you have any question about it I would call Disney Dining before your drop the DDP and verify with them. If they tell you they would like for you to pay upfront just explain that you will have a TIW card and plan to use it and how will that be handled.

I was thinking about calling Disney Dining but I know the CMs could be very inconsistent with their information. I still have a while to cancel. When you stay at a DVC resort on points, you have until 72 hours before check-in to either add or drop a dining plan. And we don't check in until July 13th. But I figure since we already know we are dropping the dining plan I can just do it earlier.

Oh I know you can get a different answer everytime you call. I really think since you have a credit card hold on it the reservation will be fine. In fact I think all of your reservations will stay put. People book ADR without the DDP all the time. So the fact that you don't have DDP anymore shouldn't affect anything.

I'm definitely not worried about any of my other ADRs disappearing. I was just wondering about CRT since it has to be pre-paid if it is not linked to the Disney Dining Plan, as my ADR was when we used to have the DDP on our resort reservation.

We just did this. We went from on property with dining plan to off. I was so worried about CRT so I called everyday for 7 days and even spoke with the supervisor.:) After that I felt pretty confident as long as you have the credit card hold your ressie will be fine!

I think you should be fine b/c you have the credit card # on file. When you arrive just let them know that you are not going to be using credits and tell them how you want to pay. Even if you had kept the dining plan you could have decided to pay for the meal OOP when you arrived.

I called Disney Dining, and sure enough, just as I suspected, they started out by saying "Hmm...that's a good question." Then the CM on the phone advised me to call the Resort Reservations line instead. So I called DVC Member Services, since that is where I made my resort reservation. The CM told me that the ADR will absolutely stay in place as is, and I will just be able to pay when we arrive at CRT. So I canceled the DDP in the same phone call.
