I tried and explain it by saying most of you and I are on very different wavelengths and if you can't accept that I can't help.

I'm very worried on just how intolerant a lot of you are with those that don't fit into your CLICK and are part of the groupie attitude that seems rampant here. Again SO, SO sad .....

Larry

Oh Larry... :sad2:

I don't understand how you came under this misguided notition that everything on the boards has to be so serious. While most folks are lead to the Dis in their search for information, many like myself are encouraged to stay because of the sense of community that you have mistaken for a clique. Excuse us if we seem a bit cold toward you, but you see Larry, it is not us who have not accepted you, but rather you who will not accept us and we have had enough of it.

I don't expect you to find this out for yourself, so I will try to explain things to you one more time:

Every day new members are guided here in search of information. If all that they are interested in are facts, they generally will consume what they need and not return unless the need arises. If that works for them, that is fine. Many users do stay though and the reason that they do is because of what you have labeled as Tom Foolery and Shenanigans, AKA community and ***gasp*** fun!

Now before you go off on your usuall rant about search engine rankings and users having to sift through useless information to find what they need, I will ensure you that what you think you know is just not true. As a web developer, I am well versed in what makes search engines tick and believe me, the Dis has exactly the right mix of what it needs to retain its position at the top. As far as the Tom Foolery goes, it generally occurs well after the initial question has been answered so if the user is not interested, they don't have to read any further.

I will even go so far as to argue that this Tom Foolery is ESSENTIAL to the survival of this board. I have seen many a forum go south because of the lack of a core group of users that are there to keep the boards alive (THE COMMUNITY). Generally if you come across one of these "just the facts" kind of forums, and dare to ask a question from the handfull of remaining users, you will get the standard "you will find what you are looking for if you use the search engine" kind of answers. Why answer the question if it has already been answered, right??? I'll tell you why. Because if the only response people get to their questions is "use the search feature", eventually people stop asking questions. If nobody is asking questions and Tom Foolery is not allowed, then there are very few posts and the forum dies a slow... painful... death... You may notice that posts on the Dis are rarely answered in that fashion. The users here are more than happy to rattle off the same facts over and over because they are part of the community and in a community we are here to help each other. Helping people and conversing with the people who ask a question also makes that person feel like part of the community and the community grows.

TAIHTSAT!! (That's all I have to say about that!)

I've been working on this small novel for a while and the thread has moved on without me, so forgive me if it seems somewhat out of place in the flow. Let the alphabet soup continue!! :thumbsup2

I got as far as IDGARA and then my head officially exploded.....

WSL =Well Said Lisa, I tried to say this, but your writing skills are so much better than mine. Our little Clique as Larry calls us, is people having some fun and out of these boards have made some life long Fiends. I for one feel very lucky to have found these Friends on here. We have all come to be a part of each others lives, the good, the bad and the ugly. We help to get each other thru good times and bad. So call it what you want, the information is there for who ever needs it and the friendship is there for the talking.

EXACTLY!!! We are just friends having a conversaton. When you are having a conversation with someone and they say something you don't understand, you ask them what it means?? You don't go off and google the answer. If I said something that somebody didn't understand and they asked me what it meant, I certainly wouldn't go tell them to look it up!!!! I would just tell them :-)

Amanda, I am so happy for you guys!!! Have a little fun for us will ya ;)

And to the OP (that is Original Poster for Larry's benefit) Way to go, what a way to show Disney spirit, going to the trouble to help make someone's Disney dreams come true, just know that Amanda and her family are the nicest/sweetest people you could ever meet!!
