Canceled my May trip when my Dad passed away...

OMG... I"m so touched by your story... I had to stop to wipe the tears running down... That was wonderful releasing the balloon... But I'm glad to read that you still went... and I'm sure your little princess is dancing in the clouds!!!

Our precious little girl went to Heaven. It took us a few years to find the courage to go to Disney as a family of now 3. Soooo bittersweet. But we took Marissa with us. Yes, I cried when the waves of longing struck - but there were many tears of Joy, too. I purchased one of the Minnie Mouse balloons and walked to the center of the garden just in front of Cindy's castle. We each kissed the balloon before releasing it to Heaven.

Nothing like a trip to Disney--let Mickey put a smile on your face.

Let's get together for a virtual "Group-hug" in front of the Castle

I am very sorry to hear about your Dad, but I know he would want you both to have this trip and enjoy yourselves, he is watching down on you now of course... :sunny:

im so sorry for your loss.

My dad passes on march 30th 2006. We had plans to be at disney that weekend. We flew home to be with my dad. i rescheduled the trip for 2 weeks later. going to disney was the best thing i could do for my dd! we both felt like we were able to just have fun and let the "disney magic" take over!

i am so sorry so many people have to know such sadness :(

i also know how courageous you all are to go on with life! its easy to let depression and sadness take over!

(virtual hugs to all) :grouphug:

On my last trip to WDW, Me and my gf got engaged. a few days later, my grandmother passed away. I was very close to her and she had been ill for a long time. I knew she was not doing well, but with all my plans, I had to leave.

I actually found out 2 days after the engagement that she passed away, while i was actually in the MK. It was terrible at the time, but i know that my grandma would have wanted me to stay and have fun, we returned home early the next day.

I just felt like sharing this story because eventhough through the good times and Bad WDW is always there. I thought that going back would make me upset, but I am over that. Disney is a great place, and I know that eventhough I had bad news while I was there, It almost at the same time helped me take the news a little better since i was already in a cheery disney mood and since I had just gotten engaged.

Disney is a great place.

Some of you may remember that my dad was ill and passed away memorial day and my daughter and I were scheduled to go to WDW the day after memorial day. Thanks to a lot of you on this board who gave me great advice and showed such wonderful compassion, I canceled my trip before he passed.

Well, two years ago, due to heat and Charley, I swore I would not go back in August. We had been going in August for the past 8 years prior, and I swore, never again. We leave August 15th.. :rotfl2:

We arrive August 15th too!!! Sorry for your loss. Hope you have a magic, pixie dust filled trip! pixiedust:
