Ok I cant find it anywhere on the WDW site, I can for dining but thats it!

I was wondering what the cancelation policy for resorts and parks.

My family is planning a trip for Oct 09 (I know WAY in advance) but if someone would push me in the right direction that would be great!!
Thanks!

Resorts are 45 days prior. You can cancel/make changes to ressie without charge. Not sure what happens beyond 45 days.

Thank you, do you happen to know where I can find the actual policy anywhere or do I have to wait until I start booking for them to send me one?

I have the conformation page right here, and it states, and I quote:

"CANCELLATION POLICY: In order to receive a refund of your deposit, including credit card deposit transactions, notification of cancellation must be received 5 days prior to your arrival date. To cancel a reservation, call (407)-W-Disney (934-7639), Additionally, if you Are holding any other reservations, they will not be canceled unless you advise us. the cancellation and refund policy, are subject to change."

Also, any WDW package you have booked is 45 days prior to arrival date.

Hope this helps.

Here are some more details from an email I received regarding my last trip.

CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION - If the reservation is cancelled, amounts paid, minus cancellation fees and other amounts owed, will be refunded. For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to guest arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package, plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers; provided, however, that for a cancellation of a Grand Gathering experience add-on option made 5 days or less prior to the experience date, no refund will be given.
Guest will be responsible for any cancellation fees assessed by an airline. In the case of a non-refundable airline ticket, the cancellation fee is equal to the entire ticket price. Cancellation of a refundable airline ticket must be made at least 1 business day prior to guest departure.
Vacation insurance is nonrefundable. Upon any cancellation, the charge for vacation insurance will be added to the other applicable cancellation fees.

CHANGES TO RESERVATION - For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Disney reserves the right to restrict changes to any reservation. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.

One key thing I found was that the cancellation policy depends on how you booked your reservation. Room reservations booked online have a 45 day cancellation policy, but rooms book over the phone have a 5 day policy. So I always find what is available online than book over the phone.

I'm not sure if the policy is different for package deals v. rooms only reservations.

I'm pretty sure this is the way it works, regardless of how you book:

- You may cancel 45 days or more prior to your trip for free

- If you cancel between 6 and 44 days prior to your trip, you're charged $100

- If you cancel within 5 days of your trip, you're charged $200

The 45 day rule is ONLY for packages.
A room only reservation may be cancelled up to FIVE days before arrival.
Tickets are usually cheaper at AAA than anywhere else.
I personally dont worry about the dining plan because there is NO WAY we would eat TWO desserts EACH in ONE day much less EVERY day on vacation plus DW does not eat alot--sometimes a kids meal is enough for her.
