I know that only God knows....but what would you do?
We have three DVC contracts: VGC, BLT, and AKV. With banking and borrowing, we use each contract every 3 years...although only being able to borrow 50% really affects the plans that we had when we purchased...but anyway....This year is our Disneyland trip and we used 426 points of our 200 annual points through banking and borrowing. I booked 6/12-6/22 at eleven months. We have been at WDW for the past two years (we went in July and October this year) and have really been looking forward to getting back to Disneyland for our long, relaxing 10-day trip. I know some think that is too long for Disneyland, but we love our long trips out there.
But I'm worried that they will not reopen by then. As I said, nobody knows for sure. But last night out of fear, I decided to book two nights at RIV for 6/12-6/14 using what points I feel we can spare from our AKV contract. We used 90 points for a 1-BR. The kids love RIV, but honestly I prefer something more exotic like AKV and Poly, but I always lean heavily on pleasing the kiddos. Then I also booked a night at Gran Destino for 8 nights using the 30% special on the WDW site. If we have to cancel VGC, I will hope that I can rent out those points and pay ourselves back for the eight nights at Gran Destino....or maybe reduce Grand Destino to three nights or so and use points for another DVC resort. We don't mind split stays.
So should I go ahead and give up the ghost and cancel VGC before I can't book any other DVC resort for some of the nights? Should I keep VGC? We got some great prices for our flights to LAX. And we miss Disneyland dearly. But I don't want everything all booked up at WDW by then and not have any choices.
Also there are four of us and we like to book a room where the kids don't have to sleep together. We always try to get a room that sleeps 5, whether it is a studio or a 1BR. The kids are 18 and 24. What do you do when the kids are too old to sleep together and you can't get a room that sleeps 5?
