Cancel dining plan?

Pirate Frank....such wise words.... from your mouth to WDW ears!!!!!:lmao:
ps never got a pin code either....most we got was a hat during Year of a Million Dreams....still going back for FULL price in Oct....

I know most are not going to agree with me but part of that Disney magic is getting the unexpected. Look at all those who post how excited they are that they got a pin. For some, Disney already had their business as they already had a package booked and then:wizard:they receive a pin and save money. I am happy for those who have received this gift.

Look at all the dreams granted during The Year of a Million Dreams. When you saw those wearing the dream ears or a dream fastpass were you so envious that you were angry with Disney? Did you want to take it from them because you had to wait in a longer line now that a whole family had a fast pass they shouldn't have gotten if everyone didn't get it? I hope not. This is part of what Disney is about. Giving the unexpected and making someone feel special.

Like I said in my previous post, I paid for the dining plan last year and felt it was a good value. My trip in December overlapped into the Disney Visa free dining period but I did not want to change my dates. Yes, I know that the last days of my trip there were people there eating free while I was paying. Did I wish I was eating free, of course, did I let it eat me up, cancel my dining plan, refuse to eat anything Disney? No, because I agreed to the price of my package when I booked it and felt it was worth what I paid even if someone else got the free gift of dining.

I am trying free dining this year in September when it is available to everyone because I didn't get a pin for free dining. If you don't like how Disney does things then don't patronize them. I don't always agree with everything they do, but I do think that they enjoy giving to those who aren't expecting anything and I think that is great:banana:

After 10 years of Disney trips I have received 2 pin codes via snail mail -BOTH to someone I never heard of who never lived at this address (and two different names!) So why I can't get one but two people that never lived here can really irritates the stew out of me! It's really a bummer to see that mail from Disney Destinations and the offer and then to note that it is not in your name :sad2:

aaah... The American sense of entitlement. Personally I don't let this stuff bother me.I have never once received a pin code and I keep going to disney. I go anywayws whether I have to pay rack rate or if a public code comes out. My sons has received a few discount emails for disney- should I kick him out of the house, ha?? All of this complaining and do people end up doing- going to disney anyways!!!!!

This may sound like sour grapes but I am thinking of cancelling the dining plan I have booked because they are giving out pin codes now for the first of December. I haven't gotten one obviously, and it kind of burns me up to know that while I am paying for it the people next to me may have gotten it for free. I feel a little miffed about the whole "random list" that they use to send out the pin codes.

Could be why I have started staying "off property" when I am not using my DVC points? Other hotel chains have REAL rewards programs, not "random lists" that actually seem to PENALIZE those of us who go a lot. (I have NEVER gotten a PIN, they seem to think "she comes anyway")

I don't feel entitled, but I have decided to spend my money where it seems to get me more appreication. (Not to mention my money goes farther, the room quality is nicer and the food is better offsite;) ) So yeah, I end of going to Disney anyway... but they get less money!

Right, but that's what I was trying to say wasn't the case. It's not hurting them. They're getting something for free.

The net effect of having a random set of people getting this for free, is that those that have paid for it, get hurt. This levels the playing field.

While some can interpret cutting the ADR short to 45 is hurting those that get free dining....it's not, it's protecting those that pay for it.

regardless, I doubt disney would do it anyway, because there will always be someone who views it as a punishment, and disney would likely not want to deal with the collateral that comes with explaining it away...

I'll be staying at the WL the same week you are, with the FREE dining pin, and rest assured I'll be making my ADR's at the 90 day mark. Sorry! I'll buy you a drink at Artist Point while I'm eating my free meal. I've been going to Disney for 20 years, and this is the first pin code I've received, so I will not feel guilty about taking advantage of it!
